Greatness is in the eyes of the beholder. Those tainted against a point being discussed are biased towards their own nation and yadda yadda yadd. A moment of Greatness in our history is when we kicked England and it's King's and Queens out of here. Someone from England would disagree with that point1) HHmmm...never thought of America as great - it is hard to quantify. For every NASA or Edison moment, you've had the KKK and gerrymandering moments
Removal of the Glass Steagal act was a point when we forgot the lessons learned of the Great Depression and on that note it was a mistake for Reagan to go down that path. Finished off by the Graham Leahy Act and signed by Clinton finished it off and allowed Too Big to fail to Self Regulate to our economic demise.3) When Ronald Raygun started to deregulate the banks
We did save your asses in WWI and WWII. We also stood the line against the USSR for Europe to prevent Stalin from taking it. We were in the way. We take the hits when they are deserved, but challenge you when all we hear are those bitching about what we do especially in War when they help get us into them. UN being a prime example where they get us involved and then we pull all the weight. It's way past time Europe pulls it's weight in that aspect. Not to mention paying it's fair share to fund the UN. Get off the cheap seats if you want us to care when you complain.4) You lack self-reflection and can't stand criticism. You think because you have brought a lot of great things to the world (and you certainly have - too numerous to put here), that you are above being critiqued. It seems to especially peeve those on the right spectrum of politics ('we saved you arse in WWII yadda, yadda, yadda
There is a hint of Socialism drama within that remark.............Which under the Original Constitution wasn't allowed via the enumerated powers. Once you decide to hand over citizens taxed money for everything you allow corruption and greed into politics until you get the best politicians money can buy which is where we are now.5) The greatness of a society can be measured by how it treats its most weak and vulnerable citizens
