Not to say it's everyone or singling you out, Samson, but it's such a problem with this board. It is impossible to have any sort of civil discussion. The second someone says "LEFTISTS can't read" or "conservatives always LIE" or some such drivel about "libTURDs" and "conservaTARDs" you pretty much know that the discussion is dead and any conversation devolves into who can think of cleverer insults or post the funnier picture ridiculing the other side. No wonder Washington is "broken" and the media is so tremendously yellow.

Why are earmarks a curse word? When did it happen that doing good things in one's state is bad thing? We could argue that preservation or museums or bridges may or may not be a priority today, but consider the enjoyment of art, open roads, and getting home safely can sometimes be good things. Plus they help Americans and help Americans work.

I do realize Rand's libertarianism is the source of his silliness, but wait till some bridge falls down, you think he'll have a Bake Sale for repair? Like so many topics today, earmark bashing is nothing more than diversionary nonsense. Time politicians just did some needed things and didn't talk nonsense.
