Rand Paul casts doubt on support of a Petraeus pick

I think Patraeus would make a fine SOS. He's one very capable guy and he's paid for his mistake. I seriously doubt it will ever happen again.

Trump could do far worse.
He is an adulterer, compromised security protocols, and let his mistress suck him off for information. Oh, yeah, quite a guy.

Oh brother.

Was she a spy? Did she use any info she got from him???

Did he not pay his debt to society??

Was he not a commanding general on two war fronts and was he not the head of the CIA?? A man with a wealth of knowledge??

Hell. The Kennedy's were way worse and JFK would have never made it to the WH with the press of today.

Oh wait. I forgot. You would be against anyone Trump proposed for any position and just love to harp on any and all short comings. Never mind. Closed minds are just that. Closed. LOL
So you want the type of protocols used by Clinton: sloppiness, criminality, etc.?

You want to continue the legacy of Clinton?

I just want qualified people in those high level posts and that man is more than qualified.

Then by your standard you vote for Hillary, which surprises me. Petraeus is no more qualified for SoS than Clinton, imo, and I don't think personally or morally or legally either should ever have held or should hold the position.

Well in MHO he is qualified.

Oh and don't worry you're little head. He will never be SOS. I just hope whoever is can do the job.

Republican Sen. Rand Paul said there's a "potential problem" with retired Gen. David Petraeus as secretary of state because of his "similarities" with former Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton on classified information.

"You know, I think the problem they're going to have if they put him forward is there's a lot of similarities to Hillary Clinton as far as revealing classified information," Paul told CNN's Wolf Blitzer on "The Situation Room." "I think that's a potential problem."

Petraeus, once a widely celebrated military leader who oversaw operations in Afghanistan and Iraq, was sentenced to serve two years on probation and to pay a $100,000 fine for sharing classified information with his biographer and lover, Paula Broadwell.

But during the campaign, Trump castigated Clinton for her handling of classified information, despite the fact that an FBI investigation resulted in no charges being brought against her.

Rand Paul casts doubt on support of a Petraeus pick - CNNPolitics.com

One of the best parts of the election being over has been Rand Paul smacking down nearly all of Trump's rumored Secretary of State nominees. Maybe his terrible campaign taught him that becoming a hack to be palatable to a mainstream who will always hate him regardless doesn't make any sense. I would enjoy watching him be a thorn in Trump's side for four years.
Who gives a shit what Rand thinks? I mean really? He is DESPERATELY trying to stay relevant.

And it's working

Sure if you consider an echo chamber where you and the media that everyone hates are the only ones listening working...

Obviously it's not working if they don't have the support of a Nazi. I see your point

Petraeus is unqualified to be SOS. He is a convict. He leaked classified information, much less mis-storing it. No.
which makes hillary even less qualified since she leaked way more information than Petraeus did.
Dont get me wrong, I agree with you on this one. But the fact is that its up to OUR new President.. President Trump, the first president this country has had after 8 long years of an empty office.
I guess we just have to show him the respect that the office bring with it, back him and wish him well.
President Trump,, does have a certain poetic sound to it dont you think?

Rand Paul? Seriously? How many Republicans voted for Paul in the primaries?

We back him if he appoints a well-qualified individual. If he doesn't, we land on him with both feet.

Because Rand Paul is discussing Petraeus's lack of qualifications to be SoS, not his candidates in the primaries now over.

I dont think Im qualified to make that call, are you? I dont have access to what was leaked, or anything else for that matter. I just know he got caught with one document in his briefcase, not over 30,000 on a private email server.

Only an idiot or a prig would claim Petraeus is not qualified.

I don't see how Patreus would have any signal about Obama. The guy was disliked from day one by the rank and file officer corp. He was a maverick counter insurgency guy. He paid dollars to the Sunnis who'd killed Americans. W bought in because we were losing the war with conventional tactics.

I have no idea whether the guy could be an effective SoS. But we have no idea what Trump's actual foreign policy will be. HE may have no idea beyond .... getting tough. Corker may be too much a straight shooter to be a boot licker for Trump. Romney seems to have overcome his momentary development of a spine.

But, some gopers will NOT vote to confirm Petraus. Machin would probably sell what little soul he has left after eppipen to stay in office. But how can even MaCalskill vote for the guy after the deserved keel hauling Hillary got?

Indefinite pronouns mean something, little buddy. Odium is something else, for sure.

Petraeus demonstrated a lack of qualifications to be at the rank he was besides hoping to be the SoS. He is not the man for the job.
