Russia´s President Putin stressed that the economy is gaining pace, highlighting industry and agriculture. He also said that the sanctions have become a powerful stimulus for the growth of Russia´s production among other economic fields. The economy does better than expected and could exceed a GDP growth of 2,5% this year.

"“No matter how strange it may seem to someone from the outside, to those who expected that everything here would collapse, on the contrary, the economy is gaining momentum, industry is working in a way that it has not worked for a long time, agriculture is setting new and new records, construction is developing at a pace that did not exist in Soviet times. We have everything to effectively follow the chosen path and strengthen the country," the president said."

So if the sanctions are good for the Russian economy as Putin claims, why are the Russians always complaining about them?

If you have foreign products withdrawn from your market, that doesn´t mean the demand will vanish. So if you have a performant country, your industry can and will replace them. Very easy to understand.

If it is that simple and easy, why do the Russians complain so much about the sanctions?

Are they always complaining about sanctions?
No, sometimes they claim the sanctions are no problem at all or even, as in the present case, they are good for the Russian economy and then go back to complaining about them.
