So....WHAT!?!???The people who run and work in those casino's and hotels need to work too. I don't think that this President gets that. Goodbye Reid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Should we be upset by Obama's latest remarks on Las Vegas? - Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010 | 2 a.m. - Las Vegas Sun
we go again time to crank up the outrage machine.
For the second time in less than a year, President Barack Obama made an offhand swipe at Las Vegas.
Last time, he said there should be no Vegas junkets for banks that had received government bailout money.
Vegas is built upon waste.
Not to belittle the people that work there, but it is built upon wasteful principles and excesses.
Let me see if I can put this in terms simple enough for you to understand. The fiscal restraint Obama is urging has two points.
1. People not using monies designed for things like student loans to go to places like Vegas. He's saying use the money for it's intended purposes. If Bush would have been urging individual fiscal restraint rather than urging people to take on more debt than they could afford, the individual consumer would have been in much better shape to handle the financial crash.
2. He's trying (too early in my opinion) to deal with the deficit.
Now, if Bush, instead of creating a brand new deficit, would have practiced fiscal restraint, when the crash came, the government would have had far more resources to deal with the fallout.
Do you understand now?
i understand you're a hack with a prediliction for revisionist history.
does that help?
and you apparently lack any sort of intelligence as to state points. But that's usually what hacks do, that you so criticize.

How are citizens bettering themselves by spending money they do not have there?
Please, lets put things into perspective before we begin with the Chicken Little/Sky is Falling nonsense and fake outrage.
*SMH*
Wow everything this President touches lately seems to immediately turn to chit. I never wanted to sound like the hysterical Bush-Bashers so i've tried to give this guy a shot. However i do have to say that this guy is doing everything wrong at this point. Just pick the issue and this guy is sure to be on the wrong side. The People do not support his agenda at this point. Checks & Balances need to be achieved. Hopefully the Republicans can regain some power and begin to provide some real checks & balances on this guy. Lets hope so.

please show me the quote where obama referred to student loans being used to go to las vegas. hint, it doesn't exist. so that would be a fail.
bush spent like a drunken sailor, admiral obama seems hellbent on outspending him by orders of magnitude. yet another fail.
keep swinging

Obama doesn't lie Vegas because the principle of winners win and losers lose doesn't sit well with him. Unless of course he (government) gets to pick the winners and losers

then why not state that from the get go instead of just calling someone a hack?
at least Obama is trying to help this country with the money. You may not think it is, and that's fine, but at least his motives are better than spending on war and destruction, in the guise of "security".

I support some republican stuff, and don't blindly agree with everything Obama does. may seem I'm a hack because of all the stupid , petty bullshit we hear about him and I criticize. But the stpuid criticism like you see ib this thread points out the true hacks. Disingenuous people are the ones that are blaring hacks.please show me the quote where obama referred to student loans being used to go to las vegas. hint, it doesn't exist. so that would be a fail.

his only motive as far as i can see is to be reelected.
and you are a hack, imo.

So are video games, pornography, professional sports, Grammy's, Oscars, expensive restaurants, water parks, theme parks, etc etc etc....
Oh wait....they are all forms of entertainement.
So I guess you frown on entertainement that does not entertain you?
Or do you frown on ALL entertainment?

Putting aside the debate of whether or not Bush wasted our money.....and yes, he did in my eyes in many cases.....
Please explain why much of the money went to special interest groups and only a fraction went to shovel ready projects?
Yes, special interest groups could use the money, but as you see...and as was quite obvious day 1....they will create little to no jobs.
Money goping to states simply helped meet payroll...which is a good thing, yes, but does not create jobs...and when the money dries up, the jobs are lost anyway.
Shovel ready projects create jobs day 1. Creates infrastructure enhancing day 1....creastes produiction of construction materials day 1....creates tax revenue day 1..
If his intent was strictly job creation and helping the economy, he would have said "no" to the special interest groups that get 300K to hire one assistant to research lab rats.

I believe that one does not have to spend big bucks to be entertained.
But that is contrary to the American way I suppose.
