What motivates this Pope at this particular time? Is it his flock that are having doubts or is it altruistic in trying to do his part to avoid a nuclear WW3.

Whatever it is, it's going to be heard by millions of Christians. This is already propaganda counterspin at the highest levels.

No one could 'make' Russia invade Ukraine. The Pope sounds like he is trying to make Putin out tobe a 'victim' who hadno choice but to invade and engage ingenocide / war crimes. Its what liberals havechosen to do with rapists, pedos, murderwrs, etc....try to turn them into 'victims'.

Putin chose his own path

True, Russia did choose to invade. But the US (Hussein Obama bin Biden Regime) chose to meddle in their affairs and help overthrow a democratically elected government, and backed their installed puppet regime. This cause the eastern provinces to declare independence, and the Kiev thugs have been bombing them ever since. So what it boils down to is do you support Kiev ruling over these people, do you support putting a gun to their head and forcing them to accept Kiev or put a bullet in their head? Don’t know about you, but I am unwilling to murder these people for wanting to be independent.

Russia is helping them, and yes it is obviously to their advantage, especially if the West continues to pursue Ukrainian entry into NATO.

Aside from his concerns about nuclear war, which obviously concerns everybody now. the Pope will do what is good for his church.
That which is good for his church is also good for the flock and their perceptions on why this battle is raging. Catholics who ask questions are going to be the leaders who have the ability to influence those who stand by and only wonder what's happening.

The propaganda blitz is beginning to break down due to people who are capable of thinking through to some logical conclusions.

Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, both sides' propaganda isn't going to save the world if the momentum shifts away from Russia and toward the US. Of course the scales must be kept in balance over the period of the long game.

What motivates this Pope?

I agree, that's at least one interpretation on what the Pope's motive could be.
Putin chose his own path
Yes, Putin/Russia chose a path and had to have understood the consequences. As well as America chose it's path in 1945 and hasn't wavered since then.

Putin chose his own path
Yeah, but the real story here is that he also chose a dangerous path forward for the rest of the world, as well. It probably wasn't something we could avoid forever but it's in our face now. How we handle it could determine if our "civilization" survives into the future.

He or some Russian leader, was always going to decide to use the threat of nukes as a means of coercion against the west. Russia's geopolitical ambitions have had to face the reality of their inability to compel through force, even a couple of united European states, let alone all of NATO. The threat of nukes is all he has. Add to that his personal jeopardy if this gambit fails, and imo, it's entirely possible that he'd use a couple of low yield airbursts to freeze this conflict in place, stop NATO helping Ukraine, and consolidate his "winnings".

We can only hope that if he does go there, our leaders are sane enough to manage it without abject surrender OR stumbling into a global nuclear holocaust.

No one could make the US invade Germany and Japan, especially Germany, since Germany did nothing to the US.

But we did anyway....you sound like a naive twit.

First words ever coming from this Pope's mouth that make sense.
