Here's a good piece of horseshit copied directly from the article:

1. Intangible drilling costs. Firms engaged in the exploration and development of oil or gas properties may expense (deduct in the year paid or incurred) certain types of drilling expenditures from their taxes.

WRONG

These expenditures are deducted from gross revenues which ultimately reduces the taxable income.

In other words, why pay tax on revenues that are re-invested into an industrial process that has no guarantee of generating more revenues?
