Pocahontas rolls out 2020 proposal to break up America’s biggest tech monopolies like Facebook

"These Big Tech Companies have been censoring conservatives and not one word from Pocahontas. Now that she's running for President, she claims she wants to break up Big Tech Companies; Yeah Right! Wonder how much money will these Tech Companies start pumping into her campaign?" - Diamond & Silk

i would rather have facebook and twitter taken down if it means protecting our democratic republic

"technology is not good or evil, nor is it neutral. it depends on how the user uses it" - Albert Einstein

"facebook is used to encourage people to hurt themselves, Zuck's quiet confidence notwithstanding" - an early employee of facebook

folks were posting on facebook misogynist pictures of Secretary Hillary Clinton of behalf of Crazy Bernie's campaign.

Don't see a reason to break them up.

No one forces anyone to use Facebook, Twitter or any of the others.

Waste of time and effort.

Beto will siphon off votes from Pocahontas and Bernie and it will help Biden. at least that's what the pundits are saying!

Interesting. I wonder what the rationale is with whomever is pulling her strings. Since Tech is Far Left Progressive, I doubt this will go anywhere. A smokescreen perhaps.

Tech has become like a Utility. Definitely a monopoly, and they are abusing their power, especially politically with censorship, and propaganda. The consumer LOSES.

Tech is not a monopoly. I do not use Google for searches. I do not use Facebook. I use other sources than Amazon. The consumer WINS with more choices.

If she's so worried about companies like Amazon, Google, and Facebook getting too big and powerful, when is she going to go after Government for the same thing?

Capitalism is dependent on good markets. Our economy is lacking them.
Because of socialism
So did government help create our monopolies? If so why do you defend them?

These companies are very successful at what they do, the government did not make them so and they should quit punishing success

They have helped amazon a lot with special tax deals.

Many companies get special tax breaks. The car companies have gotten many tax breaks from states.

these companies have too much power over our society and our economy and our country and our democracy and our government and our private sector

Elizabeth Warren proposes Big Tech breakup
She has a point.

No she does not. These companies provide a totally optional entertainment service.

Google is hardly just optional entertainment.
More evidence that the world's most powerful tech platform is abusing its position to influence American politics.

When is the government's ability to step into a privately owned business and dictate how it does business too much / wrong?

From mega-conglomerations to mom and pop bakeries, we have seen the government wither step in to dictate how business owners run thir business...or express the desire to want to do this.

Just wondering what some think - when does it become too intrusive / oppressive?

the reason Trump won, my friends, is that 4 million manufacturing jobs were automated in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, all the swing states! and my friends in Silicon Valley, and i've got a lot of them, tell me the same thing will happen to retailers, truck drivers, janitors, and on and on and on!

why are Trump supporters worried about Mexicans. they need to be worried about robots taking their jobs!

"Facebook removed some of Sen. Elizabeth Warren's presidential campaign ads calling for its break up, but later reinstated them after Politico reported on the take down.⁣

Warren's ad was an extension of her call to "break up Big Tech," which she first announced in a Medium post published Friday. Warren promised to take steps to unwind what she called "anti-competitive mergers" including Facebook's acquisitions of WhatsApp and Instagram.⁣

"Curious why I think FB has too much power?" Warren tweeted Monday. "Let's start with their ability to shut down a debate over whether FB has too much power. Thanks for restoring my posts. But I want a social media marketplace that isn't dominated by a single censor. "
