The plan, unveiled last September, has received little attention. For years the FBI has sought to vacate its present headquarters, a brutalist concrete bunker on stilts and occupying two city blocks between the White House and the Capitol.

Plans for the new FBI headquarters specify that it will be built on one of three sites in suburban Virginia and Maryland. Those sites are large parcels of 58, 61, and 80 acres.

That means, at minimum, the new FBI headquarters complex would be twice the size of the Pentagon building. Covering about 29 acres plus a five-acre courtyard, the Pentagon, until recently, was the largest office building on earth.

The FBI headquarters will house a minimum of 7,500 people (probably in the 8K-10K range after consolidation), while the work force at the Pentagon in 23,000 people.

So while I get you said "complex", your comparison of the "complex" to the "Pentagon Building" is misleading and compares apples to oranges.

Just taking a quick screen grab of the Pentagon Complex (top image) and using cutouts of the Pentagon building for a sense of scale.

The Pentagon Building (including the central courtyard) is 34 acres, which acts as a baseline. The Pentagon Complex is probably 4-5 times the size of the building itself and includes exterior green space, access roads, and parking lots. So as a guestimate the size of the Pentagon Complex is 34 * X or in the range of 136 to 170 acres.
