Another good cop, Geronimo Yanez, is losing his job (and maybe career), just because of the ignorance and unfounded anger of street protestors, including Castile’s mother.

They blame the cop for the killing of Castile, a decent guy, but who made a terrible mistake. When the officer was standing next to Castile’s car, with his gun drawn, Castile did the worst thing he could have done. He reached his hand into his jacket. This is a n absolute NO-NO.

When you’re stopped by a cop, always remember the important fundamental rule. You must ALWAYS keep your hands visible to the cop (or someone pointing a gun at you – ex. CCW license). Never do anything that prevents the cop from seeing your hands.

This huge mistake is what has caused the deaths of other people too, who didn’t need to be shot (if they just would have kept their hands visible). Another example is Terence Crutcher, shot by Betty Shelby, who was recently acquitted in the shooting. Of course she was, because Crutcher, like Castile, made his hands not visible to the cop, by reaching into his car’s window.

If you do what threatens the cop’s life (when he/she has only a split second to react), you’re going to be shot.

After a number of these cases have occurred, it’s puzzling how so many people still don’t get it. Are they abnormally stupid, or maybe just caught up in the anti-police hysteria, fomented and promoted by Obama, Al Sharpton, Eric Holder, et al.

Not if you're white. That would be the point. White guys don't get blown away in similar situations.

Only the abnormally stupid or corrupt don't get such a simple point. The same people fake stories about BLM 'riots', to justify even more right-wing violence.
White guys get blown away, and any color guys get blown away. Please don't pollute the thread with sob story black victimization, while black privilege has been reigning for 56 years with affirmative action. Obama is gone, and his black victimization BS are gone with him.

I carry a gun (Keltec .380 semi-automatic), with a CCW license. If I need to in self-defense, I'll blast the shit out of ANYBODY who attacks me, or threatens me to where I need to point my gun at him, and I lose sight of his hands.

Yanez was found not guilty, yet fired...

Protests over Minnesota police shooting result in 18 arrests on freeway
Sat Jun 17, 2017 | A protest on a Minnesota freeway over the acquittal of a police officer in the slaying of black motorist Philando Castile resulted in the arrest of 18 demonstrators early on Saturday, state police said.
The arrests came hours after St. Anthony Police Officer Jeronimo Yanez was found not guilty on Friday of second-degree manslaughter in 32-year-old Castile's July 2016 shooting death in the St. Paul suburb of Falcon Heights. The shooting drew national attention after the victim's girlfriend live-streamed the bloody aftermath on social media, and it led to protests that have fueled debate across the country over police use of force in encounters with minorities. Protesters held a peaceful demonstration on Friday at the Minnesota State Capitol in St. Paul and then about 1,500 converged on Interstate 94 in the city, blocking the freeway, a Minnesota State Patrol spokeswoman said in an email statement.

Authorities repeatedly asked protesters to leave before making 18 arrests shortly after midnight on Saturday, the statement said. Unlawful assembly and other charges are pending against them, it said. Among those listed as arrested for alleged unlawful assembly were at least two journalists. Yanez, the son of a Mexican immigrant, testified during the trial in Ramsey County District Court that he feared for his life after Castile began reaching for a firearm that Castile had disclosed he had in his possession. Yanez shot Castile five times.

Protesters clash with law enforcement during a gathering on Interstate 94 after a jury found St. Anthony Police Department officer Jeronimo Yanez not guilty of second-degree manslaughter in the death of Philando Castile, at the Minnesota State Capitol in St. Paul, Minnesota

U.S. Senator Al Franken of Minnesota on Saturday said Castile did not deserve to die. "Whatever one's opinion of the outcome of this case, we must come together and take concrete action to reckon with and dismantle the systemic racial inequalities that lead to far too many of these deaths," Franken wrote on Facebook. The video footage of the aftermath of the shooting taken by Castile's girlfriend had shaped many public perceptions of the fatal shooting before the trial.

The video begins with the girlfriend, Diamond Reynolds, in the passenger seat as Castile, covered in blood, sits in the driver's seat and a patrolman points his gun into the vehicle. "He was trying to get out his ID and his wallet out of his pocket," Reynolds says. "He let the officer know that he had a firearm and that he was reaching for his wallet, and the officer just shot him in his arm."

Every time a bad cop gets away with murder, the lives of good cops are put in more danger.
View attachment 134374 This thread is about GOOD cops, not bad ones.
It absolutely is on topic. The next Philando Castile is now that much more likely to shoot at the officer. Better to be on trial than dead right? Since if you did nothing wrong and are murdered, you can be sure there will be no justice.

It is OFF Topic, because the OP is discussing GOOD cops. You are discussing BAD ones. That's a different topic. Wanna take it to the mods ? I'm game.

The thread is also not talking about >> "if you did nothing wrong and are murdered" Those are your off topic words. A complete change of the subject. Nobody's talking here about anybody being "murdered"

According to jury members, Castile did everything right. He announced he had a gun with a permit and he told the officer he was reaching for his billfold. According to a police trainer, the officer failed to follow standard procedure. When they removed Castile's body from the car, his gun was still in his pocket.
The officer convinced the jury he was in fear for his life and listening to the audio he was extremely stressed and afraid, thus shooting Castile seven times.

Nobody is "right" who reaches into their jacket, while a cop is pointing a gun at them. IF a jury thought Castile was right ( I see no evidence in your post) ,that simply shows that the jury doesn't understand correct procedure in cases like this. This is a prime example of the failure of "our" public schools to educate us about the things we really need to know.

In short, if you let your hands disappear from the cop's view, you are shot. The cop has only a split second to know if you're reaching for a gun or not, and might shoot him, and he's not going to gamble his life because you're too stupid to know how to act.

what makes you believe that allowing a government agent to approach an American Citizen with gun drawn, ready to kill because he or she is afraid, is the definition of a good cop? secondly, why do YOU want government agents to be given the power to protect their own lives at all costs, even if it means accepting the mistaken/accidental murders of innocent Americans?

1) Nothing makes me believe that. What do you ask such a silly question ?

2) There is no such thing as a "mistaken/accidental murder"

It IS on topic, and barely keeping your shitty thread alive. When a bad cop murders someone wih a legally registered weapon, already announced to the officer, in front of a mother and child..... the next time that situation comes up, the driver is now more likely to shoot the officer even if they are a good cop.

At least the police here saw fit to fire this murderer. He'll never wear a badge again.

The OP is only talking about GOOD cops and whether suspects keep their hands visible or not. You have diverged into another subject (BAD cops), and like many posters in this forum, you then demand that we discuss YOUR new topic, that you have hijacked the thread into. I shall report it.

That poor man was upfront, offered the fact he had a LEGAL gun and was doing what the cop told him to do.

The girlfriend's video proves that.

His crime was being black.

The copy got away with murder Nd the usual RW liars are spouting their SSDD.

Your "good" cop said he killed the innocent man to keep marijuana smoke away from the child.

The cop was a murder, looking for a Black victim.
