Pence Calls it Quits

Not sure why he thought he had a chance in hell.

Politicians are weird.

Depends on what VP Pence's goal is. If his effort was to land a job at CNN, or perhaps get a position in a future Democrat adminstration, it might well be successful. McCain's widow was repaid handsomely with a choice political plum by the D's from supporting Biden.

Why are you assuming that Pence wanted to become President and that was the only reason for his effort?

He gave a speech in Iowa in a pharmacy, (or maybe in a store with a pharmacy) with about 8 people in attendance, all of them looking bored. Why did he think he had a chance in the first place?
He might have won his hometown, but that's about all.

Mike Pence (colorized photo) was only taking up space anyway.

The elites must be winnowing down the RINOS/NEO CONS running for a higher percentage of the vote for those remaining. They most likely will attempt to throw the election if Trump is the candidate in November of 2024. And that would mean not following through on the voting irregularities again.

Republicans need to get down to two candidates by Iowa and one of them better not be DeSantis
Two? I don't know where you have been the last few months. There has been only one candidate and you leftists are making him more and more popular, even when it comes to the general election.

Some of these people think substance means more than charisma. Doesn't usually work out that way. Charisma wins.

“Pence’s theory of his candidacy was simple – he broke from then-President Donald Trump on January 6, 2021, and refocused on the core conservative principles that founded the modern Republican Party with Ronald Reagan, his political beacon.

Pence returned to that idea throughout his White House bid, from campaign signs intentionally harkening back to Reagan’s 1984 campaign to speeches urging his party to turn away from populism.

His exit from the 2024 race shows today’s GOP has long left that kind of conservatism he represents, reshaped by Trump, who continues to be the dominant candidate in the race, despite his legal troubles.”

Yes and no.

The GOP certainly abandoned that type of conservativism, but that was long before Trump.

Indeed, in many respects Pence represents that abandonment; his embracing the Christo-fascist right, his advocacy of violating a woman’s right to privacy, and his unwarranted hostility toward gay and transgender Americans.

In fact, Pence was a Trump loyalist until the 1/6 rightwing domestic terrorist attack, refusing to join Trump in his treasonous plot to overturn the 2020 election and disenfranchise millions of Americans.

"Depends on what VP Pence's goal is"

Maybe he could be the good guy and testify to Jack Smith. He has nothing holding him back now.
Actually, he should have come clean when he first announced his run. It probably would have helped his campaign. You know, that honesty kind of thing.

Two?

None of them have a snowballs chance except President Donald J Trump.

The 'also rans' are so far down yhe totem pole that second, third and fourth combined don't add up to 25%.

It's over. The Democrats and RINOs have lost.

"Former Vice President Mike Pence has suspended his campaign for president amid lagging poll numbers and financial challenges"

The inevitable. Pence is done.

He never stood a chance. His kind of traditional conservative Republican is now a minority within his own party

The party should really change its name...

The Donald Trump Cult-Worship Party?

The Populist-Orange Party?

The Make America White Again Party?

The Rumpian A$$-Ki$$er$ Party?

The Ghosts of Christmas Past Party?
