Parent who is proud of a « D » student

At what point are you allowed to be proud of your kids ?
Love is unconditional

pride is based on accomplishment

Unless the child is a complete idiot D is not an accomplishment to be proud of

this suggests a family that expects society to take care of them
Consider the possibility that this student is learning disabled or in some other way mentally impaired. Maybe "D" is an accomplishment the parents treasure?
Maybe

But you have no evidence to support that

I think the guy played you....it's sarcasm. People who drive around with proud parent of honor students folk...nobody cares....really. why put a bumper sticker about it? Btw employers have never had it better or easier finding good productive workers.
Yep, its a sarcastic joke.

I got a F- in 10th grade Geometry. The 10th grade Geometry teacher set me up to fail.

Perhaps this kid had to work hard to get a D. His parents would know more about that than some gobshite in the street.
I have to agree. The kid may have also gotten stuck with a teacher who doesn't grade fairly in the first place. I remember an episode of the show from the 90's named Step By Step when the oldest boy of the family, J.T. that is, was stuck with a teacher who was prejudice against jocks and when she graded his test paper, a D I believe is what she gave him when it should've been a better grade because his dad helped him get ready for the test. His step mother, Carol, ended up being the one who went down to the school and completely tore into the teacher for being the witch that she was.

God bless you and those who are not graded fairly always!!!

There's no real way to prove otherwise.
What's really sad nowadays is that such a child is "mainstreamed" with all the other students, who are then made to feel that they should feel badly if they are capable of better grades.

I actually got a "D' one quarter in 2nd year Latin.. I don't recall my parents saying anything, but I felt horrible. I really experienced the essence of being a failure. I studied like crap to pull it up but the best I could do that late in the game was a C-. Needless to say, I never saw Latin 3.
Everything came pretty easy for me in high school and that was a rude awakening.

Why do you hate this child ?
Why do you troll here everyday?

Because tainty is a troll, would be my guess.

The fact that the parent is proud of poor academic performance bodes ill for the child. If a child understands that they don't have to work to succeed....they won't. They will merely exist, not learn, and be a drag on society.

I have a feeling this parent is a Gen-Xer

Why?

It was genX who thought being a chronic underachiever was cool.

Yeah. . . no.

I disagree. In the view of Gen X, the whole, grade system itself is a ploy to divide and conquer. It is a scam to begin with. One does not "be proud" of underachieving, one is proud of not participating on the scam. . . .

Public schooling is big government brainwashing, socialist brainwashing. It is meant to create good little consumerist, and statist drones. So why the fuck should anyone give a fuck?

This is the Gen X philosophy in a nut shell.

That whole "snowflake" term? That is from Gen X. YOU are being a snow flake. Upset about a bumper sticker? Grow the fuck up.

It does seem that each generation is more screwed up than the one before

or more accurately each generation has a higher percentage of losers than the one before
I blame the internet, video games, cell phones, and pandering parents.
Drugs play a part also
