Killing Bin Laden could have been part of a set up too. An agreement that Bin Laden wouldn't be protected in exchange for an American surrender in Afghanistan.

Bin Laden lost whatever value he had long ago. He ended up a sick old man hiding out in Abbottabad with three wives to take care of him. No guards, no security. Bin Laden, at the time of his death was expendable. His only value was as a bargaining chip obama desperately needed to make him look good.

In a scene that could have been directed by Frances Ford Coppola, Bin Laden was left alone. Soon after the raid, obama not only returns Afghanistan to the taliban, but agrees to pay them yearly support too.

This is a quid pro quo worthy of Mafia chieftains.
