Oppenheimer The Review

It seems likely that the atom bombs were also intended to save Japan from the utter destruction of a protracted siege by the allies. It is unlikely that the emperor would have continued to fight against such a siege. Thus, the bombs saved more Japanese lives than they took.

It sounds counter-intuitive but the dropping of the 2 atomic bombs saved a huge number of lives.
The US military invasion planners estimated that up to one million American soldiers would become casualties before mainland Japan was finally conquered.
Because every Japanese woman, child, and elderly person, was being trained to attack invading American soldiers with knives, garden tools, and even sharpened sticks. Dying for their emperor was a great honor and untold millions of Japanese citizens were prepared to sacrifice their lives.

The Japs really screwed up on Okinawa. By that time it was a certain that the Japs were defeated. The dumbshits thought that if they fought to the last man and inflicted tremendous casualties on the Americans then we wouldn't insist on a unconditional surrender to stop the war.

However, after the tremendous losses at Okinawa the Americans said "fuck this shit, lets nuke the bastards".

I suspect that communists wrote the script just to make America look like garbage.
, Oppenheimer was a Fraud.

A riveting read, published this August .
Miles shows in more ways than I can easily count that RO was a complete and utter fraud , how he was introduced and Why .
This is why Miles is feared so much by the Intel Agencies . He does not offer opinions .
He just crushes you with wave after wave of hard facts all sourced .

He separately shows in another paper that the Manhattan Project was nothing like the mainstream pretends .
For the Deniers , this work has absolutely nothing to do with the CIA invented term , Conspiracy .
It is just good old fashioned factual scholarship .

Admiral Nimitz and General Eisenhower agreed that they would surrender in the fall.
Why would we invade when their navy and air force no longer existed and they were no longer a threat.
The Japanese were responsible for when they surrendered.

It was their decision, and they decided to not surrender until two of their cities got nuked

The tragedy of the Bomb was that it was unnecessary. Japan was already defeated militarily. Conventional bombing and naval bombardment would have brought them to the deck of the Missouri with minimal risk to our military. The Bomb was dropped to satisfy our vengeance upon an enemy that we did consider less than human.
Conventional bombing and naval bombardment did not move the Japanese one inch on Iwo Jima, Guadalcanal, or Okinawa.

You are seriously deluded if you think conventional weapons would have brought the Japanese to surrender without a further massive loss of American lives.

Not only was one bomb necessary, but it took two bombs to persuade the Japanese to stop killing Americans. That is how adamant the Japanese were about winning the war they started against us.
If you take pity on the loss of life, take pity on Alleta Sullivan.
She raised five strong, able boys that were her pride and joy. When the Navy Chaplin pulled up in front of her house, she asked which one was dead. His response was, "All of them." One was treading water when he was eaten by a shark. I don't know how she continued to exist with that image in her head.
Whatever it took to not have another American mother suffer the total destruction of her children at the hands of the Japanese, was well worth it. Well worth it...
There is an active US naval destroyer named after those boys. USS The Sullivans (DDG-68). It is the second destroyer to carry that name.

The Sullivans are the reason siblings are no longer allowed to serve together if there is no other child at home.

US casualties battle of Leyte: 16,043 soldiers and 7,270 sailors were killed, 11,991 wounded.

Battle of Guadalcanal: 7,100 dead and almost 8,000 wounded. It took SEVEN MONTHS to capture Guadalcanal.

Battle of Luzon: 10,380 killed and 36,550 wounded.

Battle of Iwo Jima: 6,821 killed and 19,217 wounded

Battle of Okinawa: 12,520 killed and 36,631 wounded.

That's just five battles, almost 60,000 Americans killed and over 100,000 wounded.

That's with conventional bombing and naval bombardment.

The Japanese lost far less lives by being nuked than they would have if they had fought for their mainland with the zeal they fought over a handful of islands. And we would have easily lost another 100,000 American lives.

The Japanese would have lost a million lives if we had not nuked them. We did them a favor.

If the truth was shoved up your backsides you still would pretend it was a mild dose of food poisoning .

The guy was a plant . His physics were average at best and his basic maths ( arithmetic) was non existent .
All his academic qualifications were faked .
Read post 24 . Fabulous report .

2.5 hours in a theater. It will be 4.5 hours when Apple airs it in a few months.
Buy the DVD, pause it for bathroom breaks. Then sell it to someone else on Craig's List.

No. That's with ground forces invasion. With complete air and naval superiority few lives would be lost in a siege strategy. See Japanese losses due to U.S. strategy of island hopping.

We needed to occupy those islands as staging areas for the invasion of Japan. We needed to destroy Japan, not invade it. We bypassed and isolated heavily defended islands, "island hopping", that were not necessary as stepping stones. Ten of thousands of Japanese soldiers died of disease and starvation without the loss of a single American.
