That is not that many troops ... :( The Pentagon has estimated it would take “over 75,000 troops” to secure Syria’s chemical weapons.

Even just 1 U.S. service member in Syria is too many. We need to learn to leave global actions to the UN. We should put more of our time and energy into working to help others that would not put our service members in harms way.

This is crossing the "Red Line"

Will they be wearing boots?

He said 'NO' to being drafted.

Any US troops being ordered to go fight and likely die or be maimed for life in Syria should do likewise.
...throw down their weapons and say 'NO'.

And that number is just to secure the weapons. What's interesting is when the study was done.

It appears Syria and the possibility of regime change has been in the works for quite a while.

Panetta when he testified actually said that if Assad fell, the situation in Syria that America would face attempting to stabilize the nation would be 100 times worse than Libya.

Special. But oh yeah it's just going to be a few air strikes and we're outta there.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

If Assad falls from power, and the Muslim Brotherhood rules.....................

Then we would have a serious problem as the terrorist groups get the Weapons..............

Which could force us to take them by force.

There is no draft.

We have an all volunteer military.

The absolutely last thing they would do is say no.

Ali said no, and accepted a prison term for doing that. An American tradition started with Henry David Thoreou. As for a soldier refusing his legitimate orders, that will net you a less than honorable discharge and prison time, as it should. You swear an oath when you sign up, and breaking that oath carries penalties.

No American is going to "secure gas munitions in Syria."

What happens after we bomb them for 15 minutes, destroy their air superiority, and they use chemical weapons because it is all they have left?

The munitions will be destroyed in the initial attack.

If Russia gives them more and they use them? Bomb them again.

Unlike the American reactionaries who admire the Syrians, they will learn.

Not one of our armed forces personnel is drafted.

They will obey orders.
