No, it isn't....

It's reality. ICE doesn't have the facilities to hold millions of people, and local jurisdictions don't want them and aren't set up to handle them. (You don't put the dreamer kid in jail with the serial killer.)
The issue that has been allowed to grow out of control for to long, will take a while to slowly walk itself back, but some huge moves need to be be made in order to assure that the walk back doesn't fail to materialize to it's conclusive end.

Or we can just pass sensible policies to start with, and sort out who we want to keep.

We have an issue here because our market needs labor. Now what we should have is some kind of guest worker program like the Germans have. Instead, we do this, and we complain about it.
