Obama's New Spending Bill Has 9,000 Earmarks

Sorry but it is hunting with the American people.

Its called shovel ready projects that create and save jobs.

You guys are losing the battel of bullshit words.

People dont care about the minutia they want the jobs and spending that this bill creates.

which guys are those, liar?

All those guys who think this assninine tact is helping the Repubican party , taintwallow.

Its easy for you to say lets get over the bill, move on and work togeather. You have a President you like running our country. For those of us who feel we should have to pay our own bills, it ticks us off a tad bit. No matter what your always going to have unhappy people, so its not fair to say "get over it" because for the next 4 to 8 years, i have to listen to someone i dont trust, nor do i believe in.

And just to get past the argueing. I know for 8 years you had to listen to Bush, but hes gone and no longer the President, so that plays no factor in this.

The messes he created will be with us for decades. Bush created this problem.

Maybe you should realize your judgement is bad. You trusted a pack of criminals even though we warned you and now that we were proven right about them you dis our new president who is trying like hell to include you and fix this historically unprecidented mess.

You were wrong we were right. Maybe you should allow us a little faith and HELP fix this instead of condeming those who were right all along.

Oh my fucking God.... there couldn't be anymore lies and slobbering over hussein above than any other post on this board. Holy freakin' sheep shit.:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

That's true... What's $5 billion.... :cuckoo:

I'm sure these projects are more important than taking that $5 billion and feeding the homeless...

so where were your 20 daily threads about Bush's 200 billion on Iraq?

and please list all 9,000 earmarks or link to them specifically since you want to toss around fake numbers.

That's true... It's ONLY $5 billion.... :cuckoo:

RAFLMAO... so it's only ok when you're a "tad bit" ticked off?

puleeze....

I feel that corporations and the top 1% of the wealthiest in this country shouldn't have gotten tax cuts while the middle class got squeezed.

I was a "tad bit" ticked off when the imbecile you voted for twice was the first leader IN HISTORY to cut taxes during war time.... which is at least part why we're here in the first place.

See how that works.

now stop whining... your guy failed. we at least gave bush a chance, even with the smarmy way he got into office.

Funny.. I'm not in the top 1% and I remember getting a tax cut too...

And lord knows you know I am for completely equal burden % taxation.... just bring that about and there should then be no more whining about this person or group getting any more of a cut or raise than another

Im not whining what so ever. All I am saying is that no matter what your always going to piss someone off. I was only commenting on the fact that people that voted for Obama can say get over it lets work togeather, because you trust that he will do the right thing. I on the other hand dont trust him, nor do I think he is doing the right thing.
And as I said before Bush is NO LONGER president.

Just a day or so before it passed, Obama stated repeatedly "There are absolutely no earmarks in this work. Not one."

What a lying sack.

yeah, but bush's "gifts" keep on giving.

and sorry, given that he's been out of office for only a month, i think it's fair to make comparisons.

now, for 6 years i watched the repubs not put a bill on the floor unless it didn't need a single democratic vote to pass. so you can say you don't agree with the current path, but at least he tried to get bi-partisan support. bush spit in our faces for eight years.

awwwwww... there, i mentioned bush again.

Sorry Rachael. Like I said, he's the "gift" that keeps on giving. So, when the problems he left behind go away, maybe we'll stop mentioning him. (although I don't see where Clinton being out of office for over 8 years keeps the loonies from talking about him).

Of COUSE they're earmarks.

They are funding thousands of projects.

How else could they do it?

but they aren't earmarks in the sense that they are pet projects without any purpose.... like bridges to no where.

They are spending projects... that's the whole point of the stimulus bill.

(and yes, I know that *you* know that).

yeah, i was wondering how we'd gotten by without a $55MM "mob museum" in las vegas.

i'm sure this bill is larded up with as much pork as the market would bear.

i don't doubt that there are a lot of worthy projects in the bill, but please don't try to tell me there are no "bridge to nowhere" type projects in it.

that dog won't hunt.

an earmark by any other name...

I haven't got the slightest doubt that there are loads of "pet projects" in this spending package.

I only wish to God Rosetta was somebody's "pet project".

It'd give this nation (indeed the world) one of the best returns of investment of any dollar this nation has spend in the last century or so.

There are earmarked spending aspects in this bill and there are block grants in this bill, too.

And while we can debate the realtive value of each of those earmarks, and even of the block grants going to states and cities and countries, expecting that this bill would NOT have earmarks is a rather goofy notion.

Earmarks merely mean that the money is TARGETED at a specific project.

Merely targeting projects isn't in and of itself a bad thing.

It really depends on the project, not the system by which it is funded.

i completely agree

Again. Your not seeing my point. But its kind of hard to explain it to someone who isnt willing to listen.

ALL I was commenting on is the fact that its ridiculous to say "get over it, and work togeather" when no matter what your going to always have someone that doesnt agree.

Im just sick of these democratic people thinking its okay to make hard working people pay for other peoples bill. ITS NOT MY JOB. NOR DO I OWE IT TO ANYONE.

It's hardly inappropriate to talk about someone who is on tv every night taking credit for Republican concepts and otherwise filling the screen with his big fat head.

If he'd go away, we'd stop talking about him.

And the financial downturn didn't take place until the last few month's of Bush's last term. One could even argue it was started by a panic over the idea that a socialist could possibly move into the white house. One could also argue it started as the result of years of fearmongering by the left.

At any rate, the record stands. Bush pleaded with the Dem congress 17 times for more regulation between 2005-2008. But the Dems stood firm!

I understand what you're saying. I think you're missing what I'm saying (or maybe we're talking at cross-points). But I'm kind of funny, I think most things can be worked out with compromise IF the parties operate in good faith.

So I guess what I'm saying is the Repubs aren't acting in good faith, right down to the congress members who voted against the bill but are going back to their constituents and bragging about the beneficial provisions they got put in for their own districts.

Or that the Dems aren't by their insistance that the only "compromise" is complete acceptance of the bill.

Which is what Obama was doing when he was telling everyone to just forget what is actually in the bill and push it through, and work out the details "later".

And this brings me back to the point "somones always going to be upset" YOur either going to have a happy Democratic party and a pissed of Rebublican one or vise versa. I dont agree with the bill, and you do. We can both agree to disagree.

Don't worry. You're not alone. A good half of the country agrees with you, and the number is growing daily.
