Obama Uses Signing Statement on Budget Bill

Buy a clue, dear. When something is chopped up into a sound bite it means it is editorialized.

Here his the entire quote, via Boston.com

Yeah, he did exactly what he said he wouldn't.

it is a clear abuse of power to use such statements as a license to evade laws that the president does not like or as an end-run around provisions designed to foster accountability.
The whole quote doesn't change the context one iota.
Okay, fine. I took your original to mean that you thought he claimed he'd never use signing statements. Your complaint is valid, it was a naive thing to say. He should have qualified it with "unless Republicans do something completely partisan."

If you listen to this youtube clip that PC posted, he clearly said he would not use signing statements.

Democrats are truly evil

Dems are not evil...they are just wishful thinking suckers for the most part. Christian Fundamentalist fascists are truly evil. Dems mean well ...you fake republican sadistic fuckwits knowingly do harm...then gloat about it. You are far more of a danger to your fellow human beings than any terrorists.

Barry is a major disappointment for everyone except for a few bed-wetting, boot-licking ass sniffers that still fawn and faint over his every utterance. Oh, and of course Jimmy Carter. Jimmy is thrilled!! He's not the worst President anymore!!!

It shouldn't surprise anyone that Obama bin Lyin, keeps lying. That is what he does best. When he ran for and won the Presidency he wasn't well known. Everybody bought into the Messiah mystique that the media hyped. No one seemed to notice that when he spoke of change he never spoke of what that change would be. The fact that his spiritual leader was a racist biggot went ignored. That he had close ties to self admitted terrorists and murders was a none issue and went unreported. Even the fact that he was an incompetent, inexperienced junior politician was swept under the carpet. When he came to office America had high hopes. The Messiah had arrived. Peace, hope, and prosperity would flood the land.

That isn't what happened is it. Before Obama, took office "The U.S. unemployment rate averaged 4.7% from 2001-2007. This compares with a 5.2% average rate during President Clinton's term of office, and is well below the euro zone average of 8.3% since 2000." Economy Under George W Bush - dKosopedia Obama, changed that and unemployment skyrocketed to over 9 %. Even today almost 500,000 lose their jobs every week. Now that is change isn't it.

Our economy is driven by the private sector. Yet every month Obama introduces more liberal schemes that drive down investment, and job creation. Green energy strategies are heavily funded with tax payer money. At the same time investments in drilling an refining our own oil is demonized and stonewalled. Having done that he gave Brazilian oil company Petrobras 2 billion dollars to develop their own off shore oil operations. He also promised Brazil that we'd buy their gas. Petrobras is partial owned by Obama supporter George Soros. Obama to Brazil: we will buy your oil after giving you $2 billion to drill it - National Finance Examiner | Examiner.com

Obama's, agenda is to bankrupt the USA. He is doing a good job of it too. When he took office the federal defict stood at 169 billion dollars. In March 2011 Obama spent more then 223 billion dollars. Read on.

"In Febrauary the Obama Administration posted the largest monthly deficit in US history.
The Washington Times reported, via Free Republic:

The federal government posted its largest monthly deficit in history in February at $223 billion, according to preliminary numbers the Congressional Budget Office released Monday morning.

That figure tops last February’s record of $220.9 billion, and marks the 29th straight month the government has run in the red — a modern record. The last time the federal government posted even a monthly surplus was September 2008, just before the financial collapse.

Last month’s federal deficit is nearly four times as large as the spending cuts House Republicans have passed in their spending bill, and is more than 30 times the size of Senate Democrats’ opening bid of $6 billion.

But don’t worry…
Democrats are willing to cut a .28% from their record budget.

Obama is keeping his promise. He is going to change the USA from how we've known it for our entire lives. If we reelect this socialistic pig we'll deserve what we get.

Man,that Hopey Changey One sure does love his Czars. Using a signing statement for that is just petty & stupid. What a scam.

I see it as yet another example of an amateur misstep. You don't make absolute promises during a campaign , and then blatantly disregard them less than 60 days after entering office.

Rep candidate is going to have a field day with an Obama clip saying that he wouldn't, and then time after time showing that he has.
Criticize him as you will, but he never claimed he wouldn't issue signing statements.

I am not a fan of them but in this case, as in some of Dubya's, I think it was justified.

It is just ridiculous to not allow advisers. Presidents actually need advice on rare occasions...believe it or not.

Actually, he did say he Definitely Promised he would Not Use Signing Statements to Get His Way:

Even SALON Magazine thinks he lied:

There is no ambiguity in that vow: none at all. He explicitly promised not to use signing statements to nullify Congressional statutes he thought were invalid. Citing his credentials as a Constitutional Law professor, Obama explained that "Congress' job is to pass legislation," and when that happens, a President has only two options: "the President can veto it or sign it." In contrast to Bush -- who, Obama said, "has been saying 'I can change what Congress passed by attaching a statement saying I don't agree with this part, I'm going to choose to interpret it this way or that way'" -- Obama said he, by contrast, believes "that's not part of [the President's] power." He punctuated his answer as follows: "we're not going to use signing statements as a way of doing an end run around Congress." It just doesn't get any clearer than that.

This guy has acted more like a Dictator than DA BOOOOOSH ever could have. Where are all those preachy Lefty Wingers? AWOL as usual i guess. Just like on his Libyan War. The Left are all hiding in their spider holes at this point. Can't trust them anymore.

And don't you love the contrast between all the moonbat Shrieking over the Patriot Act, and now they are perfectly copacetic to see the Feds have the power to Shut Down The Internet (the most effective way for citizens to communicate with each other and share information about our government that we have ever had).

Should I take a wild stab at what your stance is on Net Neutrality?

I see that despite being proven wrong, you still haven't Banned Yourself as you promised.

No wonder you don't mind Obama breaking his.

So basically, he made an amateurish and noobish misstep. Now he's given the Republicans fodder for the '12 campaign.

EVERYTHING he has done qualifies as "Amateurish and Noobish"...which is why the country is in such a mess.

I disagree, it takes some skill to create a mess, claim its solved, while keeping a straight face and remaining partially sane.

You are correct. However the skills it takes to do that, are not one and the same with the skills takes to be a good Leader.

Obama is a great Con Man, just a piss poor Leader.

Hey, Bush got re-elected. This will be a non-issue. Small potatoes.

But perhaps we should get Congress to outlaw signing statements. :eusa_eh:

Bush never said he wouldn't do signing statements.
Good point. He did, however, promise no nation building and IMO that broken promise did a lot more damage.

Yeah, Obama's Attempt @ Nation Building in Libya make what (43) did with the Consent of Congress look like nothing...

Good to see you are taking Barry to Task, Ravi.

:)

peace...

Yeah, right...so many Americans have died in Libya.

Interesting to see your butt puppy thanking you, though.

Somehow it's inhumane to put underwear on an Iraqi's head but killing innocent civilians used as body shields by a despot in Libya is Okie Dokie.

I've seen your "innocent" civilians on TV bragging about how proud they were to be body shields for Gudaffi. They are mostly people that would be arrested and tried for murder and torture if Gudaffi gets thrown out. They really have nothing to lose by supporting him in this way.
