Just saw Barry on the news saying he will follow in Bush's shoes and make recess apointments.

This is not unusual, Bill Clinton made 139 in 8 years, and Chimpola Bush made 171 in his 2 terms.

Of course, the Democrats screamed bloody murder when Chimp was doing it, and now of course they love it.

Another example that both parties are the same, and behave the same way.

Yea looks like this one is going the way of his Debt limit increase hypocrisy. Go back and look at his pompous speeches where he screeches about the evils of Debt limit increases and recess appointments. Absolute power really does corrupt absolutely. This President is a very sad example of this.

Gotta agree.

Was watching the news last night and this came on. Apparantly the Dems screeched bloody murder when Bush did it. It was unamerican, unconstitutional. Hell. They even went so far as to not go into recess. They had the Senate come in for 2 or 3 minutes and then hit the gavel.

Funny how things change when your the ones in power and doing the same thing the other party was doing. LOL

No...this is how he does it through the front door instead of retaining them over at Center For American Progress

All of his commie friends that he couldn't get approved are still running things over there in an unofficial capacity.

Just go back and look at his pompous speeches on this subject. In fact go back and look at all of the pompous Democrat speeches on this subject. You are sure to be pretty surprised and entertained. What a scam.

The Democrats always do things in the dead of the night, in secrecy, and in an underhand way. This move by Owe Bama comes as no surprise.

at least he won't use signing statements as an end run around the constitution.

and he will post all bills for 48 hours prior to signing them into law.

so we've got that going for us

...which is nice.

Rules allow for it, but back in the day when the rules were made, congress only met from January till May. It was an important tool in getting things done when congress was out of town.

these days, not such a good idea, but still within the rules.

There are drawbacks to these things though.

Clinton had good reason, he had to deal with an opposition congress 6 out of his eight years.

and Bush's majorities were always razor thin.

What 0bama's excuse is, I don't know.

Recess appointments are now good. Just like signing statements, lobbyists, and raising the debt limit. Hopey Changey sheep are such dummies. lol!

Article II section 2 of the United States Constitution states:
He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by Law: but the Congress may by Law vest the Appointment of such inferior Officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the Courts of Law, or in the Heads of Departments.

The President shall have Power to fill up all Vacancies that may happen during the Recess of the Senate, by granting Commissions which shall expire at the End of their next Session.

While there has been significant debate as to the meaning of “advice and consent” clearly it encompasses the right of the Senate to approve presidential nominations by a majority vote.

Presidents have relied upon Article II section 2 - which gives the Executive the power to “fill up all Vacancies that may happen during the Recess of the Senate, by granting Commissions which shall expire at the end of their next Session.”

The purpose of the recess appointment clause was to allow the President to keep the operations of government running even when the Senate is not in session and thus is unable to confirm presidential appointees. It was not designed to circumvent the Senate. Using recess appointments is an end run around the checks and balances that the framers of the Constitution envisioned. I oppose the use of recess appointments for any reason other than their original intent.
