Obama throws Wes Clark under the bus

Apparently they weren't able. Those priests were homosexual pedophiles. Those with aberrant sexual urges seem unable to contain themselves…

Thus I think it's pretty obvious that you don't put homosexuals in charge of boys… just like you generally don't put heterosexual men alone in charge of girls….like on overnight camping trips.

Why is it idiot liberals continue to place political ideology above the safety of children?

Are you suggesting the LIBERALS are in charge of the Roman Catholic Church and that therefore Liberalism is responsible for the molestation of those children?

May I remind you that the RC Church is one of the most conservative, anti-communist, anti-socialist, reactionary supporters of the economic status quo (read capitalism) organizations on earth?

May I also remind you that the stance against abortion taken by faithful Catholics is largely reponsible for the revitalization of the Republican party in the last couple decades?

Are you seriously claiming that LIBERALS are responsible for the sins of that CONSERVATIVE organziation?

That would be why Catholic Priests support Socialist and Communist dictators in numerous places, especially in Central and South America?

Does the RC heirachy strike you as closet communists?

Seems to me the commies weren't especially fond of the Chuch generally and John Paul specifically.

Perhaps I have been misinformed about that.

What do you know that the rest of the world apparently doesn't?

I don't think age itself should be a disqualifier. Not everyone in their seventies and above is addled. McCain seems to be to an extent, but that could easily be judged on its own.

There are a BUNCH of posters on this board much younger than McCain that appear absolutely insane (the majority espousing a liberal PoV) that apparently will be voting...I'd rather disqualify THEM!

as long as someone is not going senile or something, Age should be a good thing, as it = more time to learn from Life. In McCain's case he has spent nearly his whole life in the service of His country. So in my book, he can not be all bad, even considering he is rather less Conservative than I would like.

As long as we can disqualify those espousing a conservative PoV. Better yet, let's just get rid of the pretenders on both sides.

It's not his mental state now that worries me.

It's his mental state in three or four years.

When the mind starts to go it often goes quickly.

The diference between 70 and 75 is way way way bigger than between 40 and 45, folks.

That's my objection to electing very old people.

They can be fonts of wisdom, to be sure, but for how long?

PLUS the physical demands on the POTUS are obvious.

Just look at the images of how that office has aged previous POTUSs.

It is typically very dramatic.

It's a tough job, (that will last four or 8 years) is my point and probably not suited to people who are of retirement age.

Finally, some plain old common sense. The idea of age being an automatic deterrant is absurd and actually makes the person saying so seem exceptionally ignorant.

Thank you and all who see the wisdom of this.

The young may have more energy and stamina and may be more physically appealing.

But age gives a person advantages of having life experience spanning decades observing the best and worst in the ebb and flow of society and culture. They have the advantage of knowing first hand what has been and what can be for more than a single generation. They've been there and done that and they have been witness to effects of good intentions producing unintended negative consequences sometimes decades later. They have the advantage of seeing more first hand how the world works so they have far less need to be told what to think, believe, understand. This is one reason, I believe, that McCain works so much better than Obama when working without a net (script/teleprompter.)

Most importantly, age blunts the sharp edges of ideology along with kneejerk reactions based on nothing more than passion or being caught up in the moment. When coupled with integrity and patriotism, those should be essential qualities in a President of the United States.

I don't think age is an automatic deterrant. But I do find it odd that someone could be elected president at an age at which judges in my state would already have been forced to retire. Certainly being president is more rigorous than being a judge.
