I was fortunate enough to be a guest for the very first Shuttle launch of Columbia, in the media section, three miles from launch (which is as close as anyone is able to get). I was a DJ at a local radio station at the time, and all the local stations received 2 complimentary passes. I was good friends with the station manager, so I got to go. All the luminaries from the media were there, but totally unapproachable. I brought my Nikon FT2 along, but now that I think about it, I have no idea where in my garage or house I've stashed those photos!

Were you really???? Wow!!! I was there as well and it was a shocker. It was the first time it flew--no test flights beforehand--no one knew what it was going to look like, with such a strange set up and so asymetrical.

Wow, if you can post them and find them, send them to NASA and post them here.

you are certifiable. That is not a painting of the photo, it IS the photo. They are exactly identical. 100%. Here's a copy of the email I sent to Huber to have him check this all out...

First, I am a big fan of your work on the shuttle program. That is why is saddens me to tell you that someone is stealing your work and claiming credit for it (no idea if they have profited or not).

If you go to a political message board called US Message Board, look in the Hobbies/Arts & Crafts section, you'll find a thread called They Call This Art. In post # 33, someone calling himself Robert Stephens claims that your work, specifically Image # 3 from this link on the Sentinel... Pictures: STS-129 Space Shuttle Atlantis - OrlandoSentinel.com ... is his work. He even gives it a name and claims it's his copyright. In the same thread, two posters have called him on his deception, even posting side by side images of your work, and what he claimed was his.

You'll need to create an account on the site to view the thread, but it is free. Here is a direct link to the post #33 I mentioned above, once you have an account and are logged in, it will take you right to the offending post.

Believe me, nothing I shot was anywhere near the quality that the professionals from Life/Time/AP took that day. My shots of Columbia on the launch pad look just like every other one you've seen.
