Obama Supports Al Qaeda?

Liberals didn't like Reagan giving stuff to Saddam to fight our enemy Iran back in the 80s....but they have no problem with Obamination giving weapons to terrorists in Egypt, Libya and Syria......fucking insanity.

In the 80s....Saddam wasn't our enemy. In 2012....islamic terrorists are our enemy and have been for decades, long before Reagan supported Saddam.

If President Obama policies helped supplied the rebels in any ME country with what the West supplied Saddam with as a result of President Rayguns policy then both Cons and Lib should be upset. Not to mention them selling Iran missiles and illegally diverting the profits to the Contra Mercenaries.

"...not only did Ronald Reagan’s Washington turn a blind-eye to the Hussein regime’s repeated use of chemical weapons against Iranian soldiers and Iraq’s Kurdish minority, but the US helped Iraq develop its chemical, biological and nuclear weapons programs."

Iraq's 11,000-page report to the UN Security Council lists 150 foreign companies, including some from America, Britain, Germany and France, that supported Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction program, a German newspaper said yesterday.

Berlin's left-wing Die Tageszeitung newspaper said it had seen a copy of the original Iraqi dossier which was vetted for sensitive information by US officials before being handed to the five permanent Security Council members two weeks ago. An edited version was passed to the remaining 10 members of the Security Council last night.

British officials said the list of companies appeared to be accurate. Eighty German firms and 24 US companies are reported to have supplied Iraq with equipment and know-how for its weapons programs from 1975 onwards and in some cases support for Baghdad's conventional arms program had continued until last year.

It is not known who leaked the report, but it could have come from Iraq. Baghdad is keen to embarrass the US and its allies by showing the close involvement of US, German, British and French firms in helping Iraq develop its weapons of mass destruction when the country was a bulwark against the much feared spread of Iranian revolutionary fervor to the Arab world.

The list contained the names of long-established German firms such as Siemens as well as US multinationals. With government approval, Siemens exported machines used to eliminate kidney stones which have a "dual use" high precision switch used to detonate nuclear bombs. Ten French companies were also named along with a number of Swiss and Chinese firms. The newspaper said a number of British companies were cited, but did not name them.

ah cool, maybe shallow can provide you a benediction, wave his arms over you , or others who insist by doing what you just did, in attempting to make excuses for the hypocrisy.

Either you don't have a problem sppting thru use of arms, foreign nationalists or, you do. Either you are down with the gut check level slimy game of Geo-politics or, you're not.

I am all for it, I thought reagans iran-contra thing was genious, sell arms to one batch of maniacs to kill the other, then use the proceeds to arm an anti commie paramilitary.

I had and said so, no issue with obama selling giving guns to anti Assad forces BUT , as I noted then, it was too late, we had waited to long and we had blown our opportunity to influence who would wind up ahead at the end when assad falls, thats the flaw and 1 big reason why that reference top AQ and affiliates was wiped from the talking points after Benghazi went down.

I don't think think there is an equlivance between supplying a known monster like Saddam with the means to produce massive stockpile of Chemical, biological and nuclear weapons and supplying rebel forces with conventional weapons. So no benediction necessary.

Shitbag....Saddam wasn't our enemy in the 80s and he was the enemy of Iran and the USSR during the Cold War.

Saddam didn't bother us until he invaded Kuwait in the 90s over his debts.

In late 1979 the State Dept. put Iraq on list of countries sponsoring "terrorist" groups.

Apparently without consulting Congress, Reagan removed Iraq from the State Dept. list of terrorist sponors. This meant that Iraq was now eligible for US dual-use and military technology.

In 1983 the State Dept. once again reported that Iraq was continuing to support terrorist groups.

Iraq had also been using chemical weapons against Iranian troops since 1982; this use of chemical weapons increased in 1983. The State Dept. and the National Security Council were well aware of this.

1984 In March, the State Dept. reported that Iraq was using chemical weapons and nerve gas in the war against Iran; these facts were confirmed by European doctors who examined Iranian soldiers.

Who needs enemies when you support brutal dictators like Saddam.

Why is it that only the rabid right wing sites claim that the President is arming al Queda? My guess is because they know their readers are mostly ignorant buffoon who know little about history.

It's actually not Al Qaeda, Al Qaeda doesn't exist, there isn't actually a militant group from the original one.

These groups are just sort of 'radical' groups and for some reason every group that isn't too moderate gets labeled Al Qaeda, when they aren't.

But, for Syria I don't think radicals can solve the problem, the secular religious ones(most of the FSA) can solve the aftermath and they will be supported as the ruling government.

The 'Islamist' ones are there because they are men who can put up a fight and make sacrifices....most people are too scared except them...that's why they are in Syria.

I guess the KKK doesn't exist either.

In denial of the truth, America is sending a message to Russia most likely. And they want Syria to depend on them for the next few decades....it's politics....not hard to understand.

As for what happens in Syria, it's not anyone's business, regardless of whoever is fighting there, we aren't gonna police anyone. And the money they receive from America is very little.

Don't take responsibility for helping the Syrian people, they get most of their support elsewhere.

It's not America who will 'save' the Syrians.

If that is true the KKK does not exist. If anyone is in denial it would be you.

You didn't understand why I put the "original" one in there did ya....anyways lets say we didn't give any Aid to the rebels and that we stopped aiding them now, what's next? What are you gonna keep pushing for? What's your cause?

Because you're stupid and I'm not, the original Al Qaeda existed in Iraq. And NO, there is no such thing as AQ in Libya or Syria, they are called Ansar al--, Jund-..., etc.

So now I answered your question, answer mine, what's next? What's your cause?

Then since the original KKK is no where to be found the KKK does not exist. When you stop redefining who is who we'll talk.

You're making a false analogy, I told you who those groups are, whatever you want to call them, that's not the point.

So now can you answer my question?

If it were AQ I would call them AQ. But they aren't. It's not a difficult thing.

The weapons the Obama administration has helped the rebel forces in Syria aquire with the urging of Saudi Arabia, and other Arab states has in fact made its way to the less moderate rebels fighting in Syria. However that does not mean we're supplying al Queda with weapons or that the president has broken any laws. These guys just have sour grapes.

That's true, KSA is supplying weapons and there are some less moderate rebels, but how couldn't there be when in such a life threatening situation?
