Obama-Proposed Gas Tax

They are called "Interstates".........and facilitate "Interstate commerce"..........

One day we should take all Breitbart dependent morons out back and put them down....

Solyndra Program Vilified by Republicans Turns a Profit
The farmer in Iowa should pay for roads he doesn't use why?

And I don't read Brightbart jackass

Because they don't sell all their output to Iowans?

They can't grow gasoline, or farm equipment?

Their sod freezes solid in the wintertime, and you can't live on ice and snow?

I dunno, Gramps.....what do you figger?

geez.....
Because California's infrastructure needs are theirs to own & pay for.
And as pointed out Obama has other plans for this money anyhow. So again I'll ask, why should a farmer, nurse, daycare provider, teacher or any other Iowan pay for any of the shit that has no impact on their state? Or are you implying the need self driving cars to drive them to the store on a GRAVEL ROAD.

You assholes just can't wait to spend someone else's money & make the poor even poorer

Holy crap are you f.....ing dense! You MUST be a 2 Time Scrub Voter......
could you do away with the insult that adds nothing to the topic and reply to the poster in question why you think he is dense for his position?
Personally I agree with him. I could not care less about a California road when Im bouncing through pot holes in Maryland.

His question has been repeatedly answered......I've tried to put it in terms as simple as possible......I see no profit in illustrating how US state economies are not autarkical....neither of us could hope to live long enough for him to understand it.....

A state can do that itself.

Your state can raise their fuel tax to help maintain roads within their own state, and the Federal Government make enough!
When Maryland did it I would just drive over to Virginia and fill the tanks on the truck.

When you live in Texas it is a little harder to do.
I guess it is if you have to travel two days to fill up. LOL
I can be in Virginia in about 30 minutes if I go at the right time of day, 5 hours if its during rush hour

30 minutes.....let's say that's 20 miles each way........in a vehicle (truck) getting about 12 miles to the gallon......

You are burning 3.33 gallons to fill up......let's say that's about 7 bucks......then you've got tha driver's time......let's be generous and say 12/hr all in......you gotta save 19 bucks just to break even - and that doesn't consider the opportunity loss of not being able to sell that hour.....
my truck is diesel and on the highway running without a load I get 20 to 24 mpg. I get better than 12 pulling my 13,000 lb travel trailer.

Then do the math your way.......

marylands fuel fund is raped to pay for the upkeep of all their illegals (new Americans) I dont contribute to that. I would spend 30 dollars more just to keep my money out of the pockets of the illegals.

I think we should raise the federal tax on a gallon of gas/diesel by about 10 cents, with that going toward road infrastructure not towards any mass transit or research into new cars.

I live in Texas and to make it to the next state it is a few hours away, and would cost me half of a tank to get there, so no dice there...
I have a 40 gallon tank in the truck, and a 90 gallon auxiliary tank in the bed. I leave the station with 130 gallons every time. I then use the 90 to refill my truck and my wifes Jetta TDI. For me its worth it.

I am not you and own only my truck so it is not worth it for me.

I use the rewards points from stores and then use their double points and buy a gift card when shopping to double my points so I can lower the fuel cost.

Do we need to talk about Obama’s $10-per-barrel oil tax proposal?

'Obama aides told POLITICO that when he releases his final budget request next week, the president will propose more than $300 billion worth of investments over the next decade in mass transit, high-speed rail, self-driving cars, and other transportation approaches designed to reduce carbon emissions and congestion. To pay for it all, Obama will call for a $10 “fee” on every barrel of oil, a surcharge that would be paid by oil companies but would presumably be passed along to consumers.

There is no real chance that the Republican-controlled Congress will embrace Obama’s grand vision of climate-friendly mobility in an election year—especially after passing a long-stalled bipartisan highway bill just last year—and his aides acknowledge it’s mostly an effort to jump-start a conversation about the future of transportation. But by raising the specter of new taxes on fossil fuels, it could create a political quandary for Democrats. The fee could add as much as 25 cents a gallon to the cost of gasoline, and even with petroleum prices at historic lows, the proposal could be particularly awkward for Hillary Clinton, who has embraced most of Obama’s policies but has also vowed to oppose any tax hikes on families earning less than $250,000 a year.'

No, your problem is not admitting the special projects that will also benefit from the ten dollar tax.

Self Driving car project?

Speed rails?

How will that benefit someone in El Campo, Texas or Farmington New Mexico?

I say no to the idea, and in another thread I pointed out that Texas drive pays thirty-eight cents a gallon just in taxes and he want it to go over sixty cents in taxes per gallon?

So right now I drive a truck that has a twenty-four gallon tank and let round up to forty cents a gallon for taxes and that is $9.60 in taxes for me per tank and now he want me to pay $14.40 in taxes per tank?

I also fill up twice a week because of my travel so that would be $28.80 per week in taxes and that is $1497.60 in taxes per year he want me to pay on top of other taxes?

No thank you...

Those roads you drive on......do they require any kind of maintenance?
90+% of the roads I dive on are gravel...
Needing very little maintenance, fine with me.

This is the problem.... government has no incentive to turn a profit. They spend money like it grows on trees, which in a way it does through the Fed, then at the point of a gun barrel, extricate money from the citizenry.

This is why people cringe when they hear politicians and the mind-numbed lefties demanding more taxes on the other guy.

I'm thinking somewhere in here are some spending cuts.... 25% on pensions alone?

nope. State roads.

We have toll roads here that you need a ez tag to ride on that will debit your account. Then you have hov lanes that you can use if you are a single occupant driver with a ez tag. Then you have the state fuel consumption tax that is twenty cents per gallon, and then add the eighteen cents that the federal government and yet the average consumer should pay more?

Also what is not discussed is the fact that transportation companies will pass on their fuel cost, and it will cause the rise of consumer products, but hey that Progressive Liberal in San Fran can get their self driving car that can take them to their speed rail that will rush them to Las Vegas for the latest Elton John and Celine Dion show even though it would have been cheaper to fly...

Health care and welfare would be two great places to start. Neither one is constitutional by nature so there is no reason for the government to be involved with them.

If they were forced to live within their means, we would most likely get rid of over 99% of career politicians and their corruption.
...I know it's a pipe dream getting any corruption out of the federal government

There is no struggle. Iowans pay for Iowan infrastructure based on their needs and likewise in California. Not to mention the needs and price tags will vary.
You have yet to demonstrate why Iowa should foot California's bill
