I won't go through each point, but I will dress a couple, with my usual length lol.

If it was Russian sourced, it would have been fabricated by some low level agents looking to make some money. Therefore a win/win for everyone. Steele could get it for a relatively low sum and could argue how well sourced it was while possibly making it his own with some changes here and there. The speed and ease in which he obtained this information alone should have raised eyebrows.

Based on your information from Forbes, it could very well just be something provided by a Russian agent, but I would suggest if it was, it was someone looking for some cash, it most certainly would not be legitimate intel. Most likely, it was just Steele producing such a document himseld and making it appear as if it was from a Russian source. Not difficult to represent, especially if this guy had a focus on Russia in his career. Notice how quickly he went into hiding? He's a fraud.

If all of this intelligence really existed and were true, don't you think that the Russians would have had video or audio of the hotel incident? Also, this would have been sold directly to the Democratic Party or NeverTrump group for at least 8 digits, they wouldn't need to give anything to Steele for the subcontracting price he paid (if, he did indeed pay for fake intel). Also, wouldn't someone have attempted to extort vast sums of money from Trump before this campaign years ago? They couldn't because they didn't have such evidence, and, no businessman pays off fake allegations.

I don't think Putin wanted Clinton, I think he would have preferred Trump for a number or reasons. Ultimately though, I don't think he was too concerned with either, he would have been most concerned with a Bush or Cruz in my estimation, anyone else I don't think he was too concerned.

In reality, considering what he knows and has on Clinton, presumably she would be the easiest by far to compromise, but I think Putin would view her as an entrenched politician who would be unkind to Russia because of those around her, her history with him. They clearly don't like each other, much of this probably having to do with how easily he outplayed her in the whole "reset" charade, then he goes into the Ukraine with no resistance.

Putin would have had his hand in the wikileaks and false intel being thrown around on the internet. That's my gut instinct. He wanted to harm Clinton, maybe not sure of how effective it would be, but to put her on notice, that "we can harm you also, even if you are president of the most powerful military". Of course, he's not the only country engaging in this, but it was most effective at a time in which the public was disenchanted with politicians and were seeking a drastic change. Also, it's a safe bet he definitely has damaging stuff on Clinton.

As for the intel from Steele, it's fake, he's a coman and a clown. Was probably not a very good agent, which by British standards it isn't difficult to fall into the daft category. I dont think Putin would have sanctioned this disinformation and I don't think he would even see it as effective or advantageous to Russian interests. Quite the opposite.
