No More Decals

Jeremiah, et al,

More than likely, it is to bring the level of security up one notch.

We've been hearing about this for a while now, and July 1 the decals go away.

In your opinion what is the reason behind this?

Suing the decal to gain access (counterfeit/stolen car) is no longer an option, and now, each person must show an ID Card.

Most Respectfully,

I'm pretty sure it's because it's redundant. There is 100% ID check at the gates anyway so the decal serves no purpose except to alert others in the community that you are military. It'll reduce the possibility of someone targeting the driver because of the sticker, even though I haven't heard of that happening. In my opinion it's a good thing.

Easy getting on Marine Bases here with just my ID....but 32nd Street & NORIS required ID and car sticker....there went my NEX/Commissary business to the Marine bases.

About a year ago I went over to the local Air Reserve base. I showed my ID and pulled over where you register for the stickers because i knew mine was expired. The woman told me they had dropped the sticker program 4 months before that.....

The ID is a better security system, But since my plates say US Army Retired people know I'm military connected no matter what, sticker or not...

My Ft. Jackson decal expired last month and to get in to Fort Worth NAS JRB I had to get their decal. You still have to show your I.D.

What decals?

Used to be the common thing on Military posts, if you wanted to drive on post you had to register your car with the Provost Marshall (MP's) At that time you would get a window decal that told any MP if you were civilian Officer or enlisted, plus the number could be traced back to you same as a license plate........

Nellis AFB did away with the windshield decals about 2 years ago. Now, they have a little thingie that looks like a pencil they use to scan the bar code on the back of military IDs. Some idiots bothered to make fakes and are finally getting caught.
