Regular Americans can't live the Amish lifestyle, so it's 'apples and oranges' to try and compare.

Actually ... they could live that lifestyle if they chose to. But they've become dependent on the luxuries of life and have no inclination or desire to wean themselves off it modern materialism.

True. Amish spirituality is intrinsic to their lifestyle.

It is very easy to understand the Amish viewpoint and way of life. It is very organic in the best senses of the term. As a model, it is an interesting approach to community, people living together. It is tremendously advantageous to a culture to have its constituents have the same religious, economic and political views.
There are endless possible variations on that theme.
