Next Tea Party Targets

Lovely photos, indeed. Yuck.

Just curious, how many of those people are elected officials, gumming up the system with their absolutism?

.
Not sure how many are elected officials, but the rent for their new offices in New York are being paid for by AFL-CIO union dues. And that groups former president NOW works for Obama and their CURRENT president has been to the White House more than a dozen times since this occupy nonsense started. So...I don't know, maybe someone will tell me what the connection is!

Your rejection of comprise and working together to solve our problems is exactly why Americans have a higher opinion of Paris Hilton and America “going Communist” than they do the US Congress. With each change of control of Congress it's payback time for the loser and the hostility between right and left increases. Regardless of which party is in power, it acts unilaterally in pursuit of it's goals. This galvanizes the opposition usually resulting in a loss within 2 years. Look at our history over the last 40 years; neither party has gained control of government for more than 4 years. In fact most of the time power is shared by the two parties.

The idea that one party can change everything is ridiculous. The country is too evenly divided. No party has control for very long and as soon as they lose control, the other party works to undue the work of the opposition.
Actually, outside of 2 presidents, democrats controlled EVERYTHING for over 60 years...until Newt and republicans took the House and Senate in 1992. So that is just not historically accurate!

The problem with compromise with the NUTTERS on the left that are in control of the democrat party in Congress is that it's like trying to negotiate with Osama bin Laden. They are...for the most part...the far left fringe of the democrat party. They ONLY negotiate to gain advantage for THEIR PERSONAL AGENDA, which is NOT what the VAST MAJORITY of this country wants. But they don't give a shit!

They want what they want and will do what ever they can to get it!

Less than 20% of Americans say they are liberal. And if they are asked more specifically about the kinds of socialist politics that the progressive movement inside Congress is forcing down out throats...that figure drops to less than 12%. On the other hand, 40% of Americans describe themselves as conservatives and if you ask them about the kinds of politics that the TEA Party espouses...without attaching them to the TEA Party, that number goes up to nearly 60%. We are a center right country...NOT left, center left OR a socialist country!

So to claim that the vast majority of America should "COMPROMISE" away our founding and our future to the radical fringe is just flat STUPID...and it AIN'T gonna happen!
No, Newt and the Republicans did not take the House and Senate in 1992. The Democrats won both the House and Senate in 1992. In the 103rd Congress that convened in 1993, the majority leader in the Senate was Democrat George Mitchell and Speaker in the House was Democrat Tom Foley.

Between 1962 and 2012, 62% of the time the two parties shared control government. To suggest that there should be no comprises and government should do nothing most of time is totally unacceptable. You left out of your statistics that 40% now consider themselves independent and don't want anything to do with either side.

Let's see. 40% of Americans identify themselves as conservatives, 20% identify themselves as liberals and you say that 40% say they are independents. Well...that DOES add up to 100% alright. However, since 40% have been conservatives and 20% liberals for YEARS...what happen to the democrats and republicans...or libertarians for that matter?

Cause ya know, not all republicans are conservatives...or conservatives are republicans. Same with democrats and liberals. As a matter of fact there are slightly more democrats than republicans and yet way less than half of democrats admit to being a liberal while most republicans say they are conservative. As do most libertarians. But not all.

Tell ya what, you might want to have a look at This Link since you obviously wouldn't believe me. Maybe Gallup can clear up the confusion about the numbers of people who SAY they are independent.

40% ain't even close to historic highs. Ain't NOTHING changed. Just business as usual.

By the way...it was the 94 elections that Newt and republicans took the house....NOT 92. I just punched in 92 cause I was thinking of Clinton...who will FOREVER be tied to Newt and the mythical budget "surplus" liberals love to talk up.

Oh, and republicans hadn't had control of the House of Representatives or Senate since 1954!!! That's right, for 26 straight years, democrats controlled BOTH HOUSES of Congress... until 1984 when republicans got the Senate ONLY and then 4 years later democrats took back BOTH houses again till 1994.

And just so ya know, after Eisenhower, there were only TWO republican presidents in that 26 years....and one of them (I am NOT a crook) didn't finish his term! So the for about half of that 26, democrats had both houses AND the presidency....which explains why we are in the SHIT now!

We have been suffering at the hands of democrat progressives starting in 1912 with Woodrow Wilson. This current batch is just a continuation of the proud democrat tradition of over promise, under deliver and lie your ass off when it all goes wrong. They are NOT reliable negotiating partners!

The focus of OP is Senate. Certainly it's one focus, but really not the main this year. Nope, it's state and local races. Where leadership comes from down the line. The tea parties aren't a political party, not a pac, and not a hit squad. It's a political philosophical viewpoint that government should be as small as possible, with taxes as low as possible, with government as local as possible, and tax revenues spent in the most advantageous ways possible, low cost and high return, local.

What about the Wisconsin Senate Race. Polls show Tommy Thompson would mop the floor with whoever the Dems put up, but is he too moderate for today's GOP?

It would seem so, particularly if he’s willing to work with democrats.

Then that’s an inane ‘philosophy,’ it’s naïve, unrealistic, and reactionary. The TPM’s goal must be to turn the United States into a Third-World nation.

Neither party should be getting everything it wants. The two parties should be having spirited and intellectually honest debates on the issues and then moving forward via rational and mature cooperation to deal with the critical and imminent problems that are causing this country to clearly decay. Sure as hell worked in the nineties, the last time this country was humming.

Instead, our system is now paralyzed by wild-eyed, narcissistic absolutists who absolutely refuse to give an inch whatsoever, somehow self-convinced that only their answers can work, and clearly terrified that mature cooperation with the "bad guys" will cause them to lose their next election, which would mean they'd no longer have their cushy government jobs with perks galore.

The zealots and their inexplicable egos are bringing us down.

I just said 40% of Americans identify themselves as conservatives. I didn't say anything about percent liberal and conservative. Your link is 5 years old. Try a recent poll.
