NYT: School tests $125,000-a-year teachers - The New York Times- msnbc.com

This new school is employing a "dream team of teachers" that will earn up to 125,000$ a year plus bonuses. They cut the fat so to speak by eliminating other positions such as assitant prinicpals and limiting their teacher's union benefits. The school is a public school but students were randomly chosen, but there was a preferance for students struggling in academics.

I thought this was an interesting experiment. It will be even more interesting in 8 years when they go off to college. Do you think this is the future of schools? Why haven't private schools been doing this? Does your fifth grade education really make a difference?
