I heard the author inteviewed on Dennis Prager's radio show....he is the one doing the video.....he said that the lies about Cobb came from one source...a biography written by a sports journalist...without any real fact checking...and then it just got perpetuated because sports writing was never considered worthy of vigorous review......

The Author pointed out that Ty Cobb's family came from a line of Abolitionists....and that Ty's father or Grandfather stood off a lynch mob trying to murder a black man in the town they lived in...and that Ty Cobb attended Negro League games and would spend time with the players.....and stated that blacks should be able to play baseball .......it was a good interview....

Yeah, and didnt he own a huge amount of stock in Pepsi?

That was a bigger crime against humanity than any alleged racism.

Not even sure where the OP gets this "no Ty Cobb wasn't a racist" as if someone made the claim. Perhaps he's thinking of Cap Anson.
