The biggest reason is simply this:the country had eight years of "conservatism".
No it didn't. Actions matter, labels don't. You can label a bucket of piss 'rosewater' but that doesn't make it so. W was NOT conservative. Republican yes... which is to say big government, big spending, socially more conservative.
But don't try to say that's the same as small government, small spending, strict constructionist rule of law.
What I don't understand is if there are so many of you non-Republican conservatives, then why hasn't the Libertarian Party been winning elections?
Right....Republicans are just as susceptible to scary strawmen as any lefty bedwetter. The biggest reason is simply this:
Drug legalization.
The second biggest:
Lyndon LaRouche

And lastly:
Most want to reform the GOP and stay with the party that brung them.
But, this is changing rapidly. Since the GOP has moved farther and farther left, they've started to give up trying to reform the GOP and are looking for a new home. But with the Independence and Constitution party siphoning off some possible growth to the Librtarian party, it'd take more time. But with the tea party movement gaining steam, and the absolute threat to freedom that P-BO represents, conservatives are about to flood back into the GOP in a fervent attempt to stop the fascists in the Executive branch from destroying this nation and purge the GOP of that taint as well.
We'll see how it goes, but confidence is high.
SALT LAKE CITY – Republican Sen. Bob Bennett was thrown out of office Saturday by delegates at the Utah GOP convention in what represents a stunning defeat for a once-popular three-term incumbent who fell victim to a growing conservative movement nationwide.
Bennett's failure to make it into Utah's GOP primary — let alone win his party's nomination — makes him the first congressional incumbent to be ousted this year and demonstrates the difficult challenges candidates are facing from the right in 2010.
<snip>
Bennett has been under fire for the past year for voting for a Wall Street bailout, co-sponsoring a bipartisan bill mandating health insurance coverage and for aggressively pursuing earmarks for his state.
Lee and Bridgewater pledged to be more fiscally conservative than Bennett, who was targeted for defeat by the Washington-based anti-tax group Club for Growth.

Rasmussen is gonna be surprised, I am a delegate to the state convention, Jane is petitioning to be on the ballot right now because she does not beleive she can win in Loveland. She needs 10,500 signatures from the 7 congressional districts in Colorado. I know because I am a state delegate and recieved a letter from her stating so. She is a nice lady, I met her, she is a conservative or at least states she is, but we don't like the fact that her brother-in-law is a lobbyist and we don't like it that McCain endorsed her. Many of us don't beleive that she would be able to stand up to the pressure that she would get in Washington and she would fold as Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins have on many of the tough issues.

On Saturday at a South Denver Tea Party-hosted candidate forum, Republican candidates looking to reverse sweeping losses over the past series of elections took turns railing against government and business as usual in Washington and in Denver. Reflecting GOP campaigns across the country, they proposed sweeping cuts to programs, warned of the rise of socialism and ruminated on the greatest threats to national security. U.S. Senate candidate Ken Buck and gubernatorial candidate Dan Maes won in straw polling over respective frontrunners Jane Norton and Scott McInnis
Just coming in a little while ago, Bob Bennett is out in Utah. Despite last ditch campaigning, Bennett was shocked that the toxic mood of his state's electorate towards the establishment. It could be his vote FOR the bailout is what ultimately spelled his doom.
Newsmax - Sen. Bob Bennett Ousted at Utah GOP Convention
This backlash took out a rather conservative senator for supporting such an unpopular chunk of legislation like the bailout. No incumbent should consider themselves safe anymore.
DITTO--The tea party movement in this country has encumbant Republicans shaking in their boots too. John McCain in trouble in Arizona--Crist a certain shoe-in for senate in Florida--out of personal political ambition had to go Independent--because he was so far behind his republican opponent.
This is going on all over the country.
You gotta love it. Can you imagine the extreme white wing having debates with moderate Democrats?
Teabagger: Boyking, Obama, a boy who is an empty suit, a racist, terrorist, child molester, Marxist, Kenyan, watermelon eating, totalitarian, Socialist, drug addicted, gay, Nazi, black, Muslim, Communist, illegal Alien who wants to kill your grandmother and is the "anti Christ"?
The Sane: No, he's the president.
Teabagger: Keep government away from my Healthcare.
The Sane: How much do you pay for Healthcare.
Teabagger: I get Medicare and Medicaid. Keep government away from my Medicare and Medicaid.
The Sane: Medicare and Medicaid are government programs.
Teabagger: Obama is trying to take away my gun rights.
The Sane: Obama signed a bill into law that expanded your gun rights.
Teabagger: I want government to give me a job.
The Sane: I thought you didn't want government's help.
Teabagger: You socialist. You hate this country.

Sorry, no constitutional power for federal health care. You can't find one federal power that allows it. And the commerce clause is NOT a valid interpretation. Nor is the fictional 'good and plenty' clause.momonkey, if you are hooting that the health care reform is unconstitutional, you are flat wrong. That means you don't know your constitution at all. If you are bitching about your taxes are used and you want accountability from Congress, then I support you 100%.
People like thisSuch as....?
Anyone who is in favor of Cutting outrageous Spending.
Anyone who is in favor of reducing the size of Gov.
And of course anyone who isn't a Neo-Con.
Such as....?
momonkey said:People who have been involuntarily taxed all their working lives to pay for Medicare and Social Security are certainly entitled to the benefits, but that doesn't mean these Ponzi schemes are beneficial to the nation as a whole or sustainable in the long run. I will gladly take the taxes I've paid into Social Security and Medicare with interest in exchange for the opportunity to opt out of the system. What is being protested by the Tea Party participants is the half trillion in cuts being made to Medicare after the taxes have been paid and for no other purpose than to partially fund the next Ponzi scheme.
How is that not fraud?
How is the government not stealing from seniors?
Next time you decide to complain about Tea Party participants protesting cuts to Medicare have every penny they paid into the system ready with interest to reimburse them for what they have already paid.
Either that or STFU!
Yes, it does. The most visible example is the Apollo project. How many private sector businesses, from space vehicles to expanded technology in medicine, have been created since the 1960's as a result of government funded space travel endeavors?momonkey said:Here's a hint...BO cannot expand my Second Amendment right to keep and bear firearms.
He doesn't intend to.
It isn't within his power to restrict my Constitutional rights, and he cannot grant them either.
Ditto.
Government doesn't create jobs (see Greece).
