Yep...the off duty cop who stopped the Muslim terrorist stabbing people in the gun free zone is an NRA instructor who teaches civilians concealed carry for their permits.....and he also competes in 3 gun...rifle, pistol, and shotgun...competitions.......that means he uses an AR-15 for sport.......

I have a feeling his classes will now be,full to the brim with eager students....

FBI begins probe as ISIS claims Minnesota Mall attack, calling attacker ‘soldier of the Islamic State’
Sunday 18th September, 2016 - An outing to the Minnesota mall turned tragic for people on Saturday evening when a knife-wielding man started stabbing people at random. The knife rampage left eight people gravely injured and left other onlookers petrified at the absurd attack.
The man was reportedly dressed in a private security uniform and referenced ‘Allah’ while launching the attack at a mall in Minnesota. Reports noted that the suspect was stopped and then shot in the head by an off-duty police officer after which he succumbed to his injuries. Addressing a news conference soon after, St. Cloud Police Chief Blair Anderson claimed that eight people that were injured were not in a fatal condition and were undergoing treatment at the St. Cloud hospital. Anderson confirmed that the attack took place at 8:15 pm on Saturday at Crossroads Center. He, however, did not release any further details instantly.

Anderson claimed that an off-duty officer from another precinct shot and killed the suspect bearing a knife. Details of this officer too were not released. Anderson had earlier refused to call the attack an act of terror and had claimed that they were still working on determining the motive of the attacker. He had previously stated, “We will be diligent and get to the bottom of this. Starting tomorrow, things won't be the same here." Anderson had clarified that the suspect has had three previous encounters with law enforcement officials, most were minor in nature and included traffic violations. He also said that the FBI had offered to assist with the investigation.

Anderson also clarified that authorities "have no reason to believe" that the suspect had accomplices. He explained that the stabbing took place in several areas inside the mall, including but not limited to, the corridors, businesses and common areas. "The entire mall is an active crime scene," Anderson said. Although the mall was put under a lockdown following the incident, the authorities said that those locked inside will be released early Sunday. Photos and videos of the mall have surfaced and have shown groups of individuals waiting for release.

On Monday, reports quoting an ISIS news agency said that the terror outfit had claimed the attack. ISIS' Amaq News Agency said that the attacker was a "soldier of the Islamic state." The agency said the suspect “carried out the operation in response to calls to target citizens of countries belonging to the crusader coalition.”

Meanwhile, Police Chief Anderson was quoted as saying, “We still don't have anything substantive that would suggest anything more than what we know already, which is this was a lone attacker. And right now, we're trying to get to the bottom of his motivations.” The FBI that began investigating the case has said that they were looking into all aspects of the attack. FBI’s Richard Thornton addressed a press conference and said, “We are currently investigating this as a potential act of terrorism. We will try to peel back the onion to find out what motivated this individual to commit the horrific act that he did.”

FBI director links St. Cloud mall stabbing rampage to foreign terrorist groups
September 29, 2016 -- FBI Director James Comey said Wednesday that the Minnesota man who stabbed 10 people inside a St. Cloud shopping mall earlier this month was inspired in some way by a foreign terrorist group.
"It does look like at least in part [Dahir Adan] was motivated by some sort of inspiration from radical Islamic groups," Comey told the House Judiciary Committee in Washington, D.C. "Which groups, and how, we're not sure of yet." Within hours of Adan's Sept. 17 attack at the Crossroads Center mall in St. Cloud, an arm of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) claimed credit for the violence, using language nearly identical to claims in previous attacks. But Comey said the claim alone was not enough for the FBI to link Adan's actions to ISIL. "They claim responsibility for any savagery they can get their name on," he said.

Comey said the FBI is analyzing Adan's "entire electronic record and history of all of his associations" to try to learn more about the motivation behind his attack. A spokesman for the Minneapolis office of the FBI declined to comment further because the case remains "a very active investigation." Adan, 20, was fatally shot by an off-duty police officer during the rampage. During the attack, Adan referred to Allah and asked at least one victim whether they were Muslim, according to St. Cloud Police Chief William Blair Anderson.

Comey's update marked the third time in two days that top federal officials in Washington mentioned the Adan probe. On Tuesday, Homeland Security Director Jeh Johnson grouped the St. Cloud attack with this month's bombings in New York and New Jersey, and attacks in San Bernardino, Calif., and Orlando, as examples of new terror threats. "We have moved from a world of terrorist-directed attacks to a world that also includes the threat of terrorist-inspired attacks ... and terrorist-enabled attacks -- those who are provided general guidance, such as potential targets, often in online conversations with terrorists overseas," Johnson said.

Johnson joined Comey and Nicholas Rasmussen, director of the National Counterterrorism Center, Tuesday at a hearing of the Senate Homeland Security Committee. Rasmussen called the St. Cloud stabbings an example of culprits opting for "relatively simple attack methods," sometimes using "readily available instructions on the internet or propagated by terrorist organizations." While Rasmussen said he expected homegrown extremists to keep eyeing traditional targets like military personnel and law enforcement, the St. Cloud attack also demonstrated plots against "softer civilian targets."
