My thread on Omicron peaking is S. Africa should not have been moved to the Africa forum.

So where did it originate from then? That is the first reported case that I've seen.
We've just today linked Baric's work to a chimera virus that was made from a bat virus and a mouse-adapted virus. So technically, Omicron may have evolved from these kinds of studies. Omicron evolving in South Africa, yes, to a certain extent, though maybe not completely. The Sorensen/Dalgleish report is the best argument thusfar for lab manipulation.

In other words, Baric's mouse-adapted chimera work may have influenced similar work that produced SARS-CoV-2. Then evolving in South African mice, producing Omicron, at which point it jumped back into South African humans. Omicron likely evolved in mice, though not necessarily only South African mice.
