NYC is one of the most diverse places on the globe. Cultures thrive there without assimilating. And the social contract is remarkably stable.

This does not mean that the promotion of cultural diversity is an unmixed blessing.

However, one thing is certain. Superpowers, like America and Britain before her, run the globe. During the age of British Colonialism, satellite territories were run through direct occupation. During the reign of American Globalization, 3rd world nations are managed through dollar diplomacy and coercion into market arrangements, e.g., if a nation tries to replace the dollar with the euro for it's oil currency -- as Hussein attempted -- America intervenes.

But here is the point. In order to intervene in other cultures, you cannot believe they are equal. The only way you can manipulate the resources/politics of other nations is to believe that they are inferior anachronisms or evil barbarians. This is why Great Nations always say they are saving the world; this is why they use National Security as a pretext (and why the Cold War and War on Terrorism became so vital to American intervention). If they preached equality and multiculturalism, they would not be able to occupy or influence distant lands and peoples.

The only way you can manipulate the resources/politics of other nations is to believe that they are inferior anachronisms or evil barbarians. If they preached equality and multiculturalism, Manifest Destiny would not be able to conquer distance lands and peoples.

Time to change tune on official multiculturalism

Multiculturalism as official state policy proposes all cultures are equal. But there has to be some independent or objective standard for measure in offering such proposition.

Proponents of multiculturalism do not use an objective standard as the basis by which they judge or rank cultures, and conclude all cultures are equal.

If the culture of liberal democracy — that is, a culture based on individual rights and freedoms, equality of sexes, equality before the rule of law, etc. — is taken as an independent measure, it would be then false to conclude that while other cultures might not be liberal, nor democratic, they are all equal irrespective of different values they hold.

The entire edifice of multiculturalism is, hence, based on a lie. For we know from history and experience that all cultures are not equal, and if it were so, then the culture of Islam in North Africa, for example, would be on par with the culture of Europe across the Mediterranean.
