Mr. Potatohead is an American doll that can be disassembled and reassembled like a clay rag doll. Mr. Potatohead represents a human fascination with stability.

Mr. Potatohead and what he represents psychologically has arguably changed.

Modern society is preoccupied with communications sophistication that drives the networking necessary for the global market (i.e., eTrade). In this environment, the new terrorist or society destabilizer is the Internet hacker.

In earlier times, criminality was defined as pedestrianism destabilization. Society nemeses such as Jack the Ripper (a stalker who murdered prostitutes in some esoteric message about human frailty) undermined our basic securities about people traffic. Radical guerilla warfare terrorists of the IRA were engaged in violence-themed bomb attacks against military and civilian hubs.

The new terrorist, the Internet hacker, is not a physiological or sociological threat but rather a psychological one. This terrorist destabilizes networking grids and computing protocols and effectively makes everyone look and feel clumsy and disoriented.

We can imagine that the intention of a criminal or terrorist seeking to make society look not frail but clumsy is to exemplify the nihilistic argument that technology use is an omen of profiteerism over-indulgence.

The fictional comic book super-villain Video-Man (Marvel Comics) is an adversary of the heroic webbed wonder Spider-Man and can travel through electric wires and disrupt computing networks like an Internet virus with powerful static beams.

Video-Man represents a new anthropological analysis of security analysis.
