More patients flocking to ERs under Obamacare

Maybe the Democrat's plan all along was to put into place something that would fail
so in the end they can say hey we tried and now the only thing that is sure to work
is government run single payer.

I doubt that was their plan but it does seem to always be the result.

The golden rule of liberalism is proved out with what is happening. They said it would reduce the ER visits and the exact opposite has occurred. As it is with all liberal things. And of course it is those getting the free ride who are abusing the system, just as we said.

More patients flocking to ERs under Obamacare

It wasn't supposed to work this way, but since the Affordable Care Act took effect in January, Norton Hospital has seen its packed emergency room become even more crowded, with about 100 more patients a month.

That 12 percent spike in the number of patients — many of whom aren't actually facing true emergencies — is spurring the hospital to convert a waiting room into more exam rooms.

Why did you characterize it as 'flocking'? Other than the already established fact that you're stupid.

A 12% increase means that for every 100 patients were coming to the emergency room before,

there are now 112.

The article said flocking not me but you making stupid statement seems to be the rule.

If you had a business whose traffic increased 10 percent and you did nothing you would be saying that people were flocking to your door.

From your link.

Hospital officials said they are helping patients find primary-care physicians and hope that helps eventually lessen ER visits.

They couldn't get "Primary-care physicians" without Obamacare.

And they are helping blind people afford glasses.

The idea liberals peddled is that with insurance people would go to doctors with office visits. Liberals were told that primary care providers wouldn't accept these patients who would still have no alternative but an emergency room. That's just what happened.

Wrong. The idea was that with more people insured, there would be fewer people going to the emergency rooms with no ability to pay, and thus fewer costs for the hospitals to have to pass along somewhere else.

So Obamacare was passed to help hospitals?

ATTENTION READERS OF THIS MORONIC THREAD --

Their analysis is based on ONE hospital, ONE month seeing 100 more patients.

ATTENTION READERS, ANOTHER LIBERAL TO LAZY TO READ THE WHOLE ARTICLE!

Sent from my iPad using an Android.

Its quite apparent that he's not bright enough to extrapolate using logic.

Yeah, that literally doesn't mean anything.

Try to think things through. He said hospitals had to pass costs along somewhere else. Where do you think somewhere else is?

Try and fire up that hamster wheel you call a brain.

OK, we will think it through. Say the number of ER patients who can't pay didn't change. Does that mean because of Obamacare the cost per patient goes down or up? In my opinion it means that the cost does not change only who and how it is paid. So the person who didn't pay in the first place is still not paying with Obamacare and it is still spread out over everyone. Now for Obamacare to do some good a drop in the other charges need to be shown (that were spread out to cover ER patients). In other words the money that hospitals were recouping should no longer need to be recouped. So is there a hospital in the US that is dropping their rates for everyone else? I seriously doubt it. So those paying in effect get to pay twice. And the Hospital makes out and don't be fooled, ER care makes them a whole bunch of money. The only real problem is that when ERs are maxed out care for those really in need, of an ER, my suffer.

Ah..if they can't find physicians then all the help in the world isn't going to do much.

True here, also. ER has lower-level nurses ( in other words not RNs ) seeing people, instead of doctors. But we knew that was coming. :(

all that means is they will be directed to the 'free clinics' that cater to poor people....where 'primary care' doctors will donate their time so many hours a month or week or new physicians will begin practicing their skills......

this pretty much means increasingly long lines to wait to get in....and once in you probably will never see the same doctor twice because of the rotating doctor schedules.....and the lines will become even longer as more doctors leave the practice because of Obamacare....

it's no wonder they opt to go to an ER.....where they will likely get an experienced doctor and get help faster...

maybe this is why Obamacare includes funding to train more general practitioners. Not that obamacare is necessarily the best way to increase insured, but the story actually is more a positive than anything. Imagine, teaching newly insured people to find GP's and teaching provider networks to provide more walk in clinics. Horrors.

Obama wants doctors to become government workers...

Could it be happening simply because illegal aliens, anticipating Obama's and Boehner's coming amnesty, are pouring into the US? And flooding hospital emergency rooms for the medical care they've heard they can get free here?

The real horror is where we are headed with ocare.

Holy crap! I knew there was a Polish-Asian-Brownish problem at the bottom of all of this..........

Your premise fails from the very get go. More insured people means more people who can pay. The rest of your statement is all for nothing.

Uh.....the AMA limited the number of doctors because, "all youse money belongs to us". Now they are wanting more physicians and want the government to help pay for it.

So.........government workers or funding is totally awesome if the *right* people want access........

They didn't give a reason why though
