Mitt Romney asked about Republican Poor, says "I'm not trying to help them".

why would you exepct someone with a low income to give money back when one of the wealthiest men in the country who says he does not pay enough in taxes doesnt pay more fout of the goodness of his heart?

What about Obama...he pays 15% cap gains...does he write a check every year and give it as charity to the IRS?

He feels it is too low also....are you asking him why he doesnt give more to prove his sentimetnts?

I wouldn't expect it. That's the point. But TwoThumbs seems to be saying that he hasn't earned that money he received back. So is he of the opinion that his taxes need to be higher? I'm trying to understand the mindset of someone who is poor yet supports someone who advocates raises taxes on the poor.

it cost money to have stuff. It takes tax money to have things done and built in America.

I'm working poor. I don't take welfare, stamps or any other form of support. Everything I have is mine. The apt I rent is sorta mine. But the cloths, the shitty van, the food, the bills, my shoes my kids stuff was all bought with my money making it mine.

It bothers me deeply that for more than a few years, not one pebble put into a road anywhere in America is my pebble.

How much harder would it be for you if every paycheck was 10% less, or even 15% less? Be honest. Would you be able to afford your rent and food, clothes, gas, bills and stuff for your kids with 10% less money. What would you cut out?

There are PLENTY of other people on this site that say you are only poor because of yourself and your lack of desire to not be poor and you have a poor work ethic. Is that the case?

If, say, TwoThumbs paid $1k in taxes, and got a refund of $1,100.... where did that extra $100 come from? Magic? Does David Copperfield work for the IRS? No. It comes from someone else.... another tax payer. Why does someone get back MORE than they pay in?

That will bankrupt the country. You get that, right?

No. It wont. Becuase most do not get back more than they put in. Most put in and dont get back.

If I said it, I'd get ignored like she always does when she's wrong. I'm glad a conservative said it to her.

I doubt my taxes would get raised, as the government can change the tax code around so that I don't get it all back.

that would not be a burden.

My current work ethic is all the overtime I can get to put my wife through nursing school.

I kind of thought that was the whole point of taxes. To not get back what you pay in.

The fact remains, though, and on the actual topic of the thread (which it appears the left are trying desperately to deflect from)..... Romney does not advocate ignoring the very poor.... nor does he 'not care' about them, he includes them in a plan to help all Americans. Which is, to me, exactly what a President should do.

I believe many on this site dont know why people are poor.

But I personally found a way to NOT be poor.....it includes sacrificing.....for a period of time.

Ironically, most that are rich did the exact same thing...sacrificed...for a period of time.

What did I do?

I took a day job....a simple day job....AND...i took a night job...AND...I worked on weekends.....it was a sacrifice...major sacrifice....I had to put dating on the side..I had to put fun on the side....I had a goal....TO NOT BE POOR.

I bagged freaking groceries....I rimmed tires at an Exxon station...I bussed tables at a diner.....

And I became self sufficient....and I saved every penny I could...and then started my own company...

It is not that the poor are lazy...or have a poor work ethic.....it is that many of the poor dont realize that if they sacrifice they truly can get out of being poor.

I am an example of it.

yes...that is what he said and that is what a President is supposed to do.
Not sure how ANYONE could have taken what he said any other way.

On Morning Joe, Mitt Romney was asked about what he would do for the Republican poor and how his policies would help the Republican poor and he said he's not trying to target any particular segment of society.

In other words, "You guys are on your own, don't look to me for help".
Hmm, Romney earns a grain of respect from me, but not enough to make any significance, he is still a scum in the wrong place.

Mitt Romney: 'I'm Not Concerned About The Very Poor'

"I'm in this race because I care about Americans. I'm not concerned about the very poor. We have a safety net there. If it needs repair, I'll fix it," the Republican front-runner said Wednesday on CNN, following his victory in the Florida primary. "I'm not concerned about the very rich, they're doing just fine. I'm concerned about the very heart of the America, the 90 percent, 95 percent of Americans who right now are struggling."

You can watch the video at the link and if you pay close attention, you can actually see his nose grow.

Thing is, this is not quite what he has said before. In the past, both he and Noot have said they plan to continue Reagan's tinkle down "economics" that benefit only the rich and have never resulted in jobs. They both have said they will raise taxes on the poor and middle class and cut even more taxes on their cronies, the very wealthy.

Why pretend? The videos are all over the internet. There is no excuse for ignorance or for lying for them.

From your own fucking post....

I'm not concerned about the very poor. We have a safety net there. If it needs repair, I'll fix it,"
Do you ever get tired of lying?

Really good message.

When asked about his "policies", there were the typical Republican repsonse:

Cut taxes for the wealthy

gut the EPA

Open health care across state borders (so it can't be regulated)

and variations on these three themes.

Nothing about education, building American infrastructure, helping the middle class.

So, this is it? The is the best Republicans have to offer? Am I missing something here? This fantasy that cutting taxes for billionaires will make jobs has gone on way too long. Do Republicans really believe America can compete with a failing infrastructure and no education? How would success look without those?
You idiotic liberals go astray as soon as you say, "In other words....." You get the message twisted around to suit your own perverted argument.

I heard what Mitt said on the radio. He's not worried about the very poor...we have a safety net for them. He's not worried about the rich...they are doing fine. It is the 95% in the middle that need help. That was his message. He doesn't propose to throw the destitute under the bus as you project.

Get a fuckin' life!

You are so fucking damn partisan that you actually quote something and then somehow, claim it says something else....and ridicule those that see it in the context it was said.

You, sir, are a lying piece of shit and one of the reasons the left and the right are so far apart on things. You prefer to lie to those that listen to you so you can feel BIG ....and all at the sacrifice of your fellow citizens.

There does seem to be an incredible lack of basic comprehension skills these days. Not just from the left, there are many on the right who are just as capable of taking one sentence totally out of context to make a 'point'.

I find it very sad that we, as Americans, have reached this level of utter stupidity.

So now Liberals have resorted to blatant lying. Actually nothing new there.

Mitt Romney never said this. I saw the segment and he was saying he wants EVERYBODY to have a chance at the Amercian Dream. His policies will help ALL AMERCIANS, likewise its not aimed at any one group. If he aimed it at one group like Obama does that would be class warfare.

Now carry on with more of your lies Liberal.

Romney: 'I'm not concerned about the very poor' - Yahoo! News

Nice try Liberal. But this is completely taken out of context.
