I realize it was put in place for a reason but I do not consider than reason a legitimate one.

After we put racists in concentration camps, who's next? Blondes? Democrats? Republicans? Fat people? Skinny people?

I really don't know who it was, nor do I care. People who are incapable of rational thought or caring for themselves do not need to be wandering the streets.

Throwing them out on the street was wrong, no matter who did it. They stink, are a nuisance, and in some instances dangerous to both themselves and others.

I have NO problem with my tax dollars going toward taking care of those who TRULY NEED the care and have never said otherwise. There is a time and place for certain social policies that just make good sense that I do not and never have opposed.

This would be one of them.

But if we want higher education to cost less that also means we are a socialist! I guess I am a socialist. For one I want socialized medicine. For one I had to get pregnant to get health care even though I was working 50 to 60 hours a week and had been there at least a year but I had no health care.

Ummm ... there is no logic to your post. It's disjointed and there is no clear progression from the beginning that adds up to affirmative action.

I'm a pragmatist. As stated in my response to silence, I have no problem with social programs that work and have a reason and aren't merely perfect examples of bureaucratic bloat, fraud and waste.

I am for reform of the government and spending our money only on things it should be spent on, something NEITHER party is going to offer or change.

I didn't go to college. I'm not on welfare. One does not preclude the other. Simple formula: college or no, get a job.

My point is if we still had slavery we wouldn't need affirmative action. ANd you missed what I was saying. We pay taxes for a reason and and yes some of those tax dollars go to stupid projects as in Wassila, what those earmarks pay for. Shouldn't city property taxes or state taxdollars of paid for them. Why should I have to pay for a hockey rink in Alaska.

I do take care of myself and I pay taxes also and if making companies offer people you work full time provide health for such employees worked then we would not need socialized medicine. Look at companies like Walmart and Kmart, which I worked for the latter .they work you 40 hours for five weeks and the 6th week where you would become elible for health care they cut you down to 31 hours.
