McCain was referring to one aspect of hillarycare, a cosmetic improvement to a bad program. There was nothing personally directed to Hillary there.

Obama was referring to Palin herself. (Everyone forgets the insult to McCain that came next, but that was also out of line) A pretty major difference.

Also there is the 180 on who Obama was supposed to be... New politics of ideas, issues, and unity for a common national goal rather than the politics of gotcha and name calling. If he wants to be an old style pol who uses dirty names instead of ideas, more power to him. He can call her anything from Aardvark to Zebra and that's an old fashioned kind of cool. But that is not what he says he is. And if that is the way he wants to play it, he becomes even more of a empty suit with anger issues.
