If he thinks public schools are so great he should be putting his kids in public schools. However, he is fully aware that public schools suck. That's why he puts his kids in private schools. Meanwhile, he works tirelessly to deny the children of lower income parents the same opportunities that his kids have.

How much do you pay in school taxes? About 90% of my property bill is school taxes but it is worth every penny. The kids are well behaved, they get good grades and most of them go on to college. Both the sports and arts programs are excellent. Parents in this area place a high value on education too. Overall the property values remain strong because the public schools are good. Obviously you get what you pay for so let me repeat the question, how much do you pay in school taxes?

The point is, with public schools it all depends on where you go as to what the experience you will have. You do not live in the intercity and no doubt your children have a different and much more pleasurable experience then those in the intercity.

The fact is, it matters not how much you pay in taxes, it is location that matters in education. Which then means your location is determined by wealth. So, our public school system is not able to help the poor, it is designed to help the rich. Add private schools into the mix and the best education available is what you pay for.

However across the broad spectrum of public schools nationwide they are the exception rather than the rule when it comes to the quality of education. Since you have already conceded that the wealthy "elite" send their children to private schools that means that for the vast majority of children in this nation they are benefiting from a decent public school education without needing to be "wealthy".

The Public school system is not what it use to be. Here In Philadelphia, the Mayor announced that unless they get 50 million from the state, schools cannot open.

Not only can't they open schools but they are getting rid of counseling,guidance, classroom- aids, etc.
