Remember the scientific community positively agog about a meteorite found in Antarctica in 1996 allegedly from Mars containing signs of primitive life? The scientists were as positive about the find as they are about "man made global warming" today. They believed because they wanted to believe. Notoriety and monitary payoff probably was a factor. Today the entire episode is all but forgotten and dismissed as faulty science.
