March was the busiest month ever for background checks in Vermont

Background checks in Vermont surged to an all-time high last month as the state Legislature mulled a package of gun reforms in the wake of the Parkland shooting.

Dealers processed 6,177 applications through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System in March — more than the total number of checks in January and February combined and up more than 50 percent over 2017.

Anyone who can pass a current, federal background check can pass the same federal background check for a private sale...which means the straw buyer buying the gun for the felon can pass the background check for the private sale......making universal background checks nothing more than security theater.....and in reality, you morons know this....but you need universal background checks so you can next demand universal gun registration.....

I am opposed to universal background checks because they are simply the excuse to demand universal gun registration. Anyone who can pass current, federally mandated background checks can pass the same federally mandated background check for a private sale...which means that criminals who use straw buyers will be able to get guns through private sales...even though they do not go through private sellers they don't know......they use friends and family to buy their guns legally.....because they can't buy, own or carry guns...because they are already criminals.

Dave can’t load it for Alan. He can’t even hold it until they do the second background check. Is that what your really want? That was Mayor Bloomberg’s legislation.

Universal background checks mean universal registration, which too often has resulted in confiscation. This confiscation has already happened in California and New York).There is no upside to these checks and plenty of demonstrated downside.
