(CNSNews.com) - The United States gained 36,000 manufacturing jobs in the month of August and has gained 137,000 this year and 155,000 since November of last year, when the nation held a presidential election, according to data released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

With these gains, employment in manufacturing reached a level not seen since January 2009, when Barack Obama was inaugurated president.

“Manufacturing employment rose by 36,000 in August,” said the BLS. "Job gains occurred in motor vehicles and parts (+14,000), fabricated metal products (+5,000), and computer and electronic products (+4,000. Manufacturing has added 155,000 jobs since a recent employment low in November 2016.”

When Obama was inaugurated in January 2009, there were 12,561,000 people employed in manufacturing in the United States. But in the next month, February 2009, manufacturing employment dropped to 12,380,000. Manufacturing employment would eventually dropped to 11,4530,000 in February and March of 2010.

Last November, at the time Donald Trump was elected president, there were 12,325,000 employed in manufacturing. That rose to 12,343,000 in December—and since then has climbed to the 12,480,000 it reached in August, an increase of 155,000 since last year’s election and 137,000 so far for this calendar year.

Pffffffffffffffffffffffft, half the US population brings home less than $30K per year. You cannot retain a democracy without a functional middle class. Watch.

So would you consider 137,000 new, good paying, jobs to be progress? Or are you just a nihilist

Privatized gains versus socialized losses for the Wall Street bankster class
Internalized profit versus externalized risk and expense for the "job creator" class
Socialism for the aristocracy versus laissez-faire capitalism for the masses

#1 is true. It's awful and I'd love to fix it. But I'm also an adult and understand why we needed to backstop the system in 2008. But we should have ripped the system apart in exchange.

#2 is false. You've obviously never run a business. The entrepreneur takes all the risk and usually fails while purveyors of goods and labor enjoy upside with zero risk.

#3 No one even knows what that means.

do you have an example of this or just liberal BSing??
No doubt, silly wabbit.
So far liberal bsing he can't produce an example. This is typical of liberalism.
Try taxpayer funded bailouts for the elite class of income earners..It don't get any more socialist than that..

Hon, US taxpayers subsidize the oil industry, agribusiness, pro sports team owners, Wall Street, the pharma industry, Walmat who refuses to pay workers a wage they can live on while directing them to public assistance - it goes on and on. No one said EVERY business owner was a member of the "job creator" class and you know this. Furthermmore everyone understands what #3 means and that it is a foundation of american style "capitalism". Additionally 2008 was not the end all be all of our socialism toward Wall Street; multiple endless wars of occupation and resource acquisition are another example and your next economic meltdown is merely a matter of time. Watch.

One must avoid objective reality to believe in the american dream shtick of american style "capitalism". That's why it is referred to as a dream; ya gotta be asleep to experience it. Half the population now drags home less than $30K a year. We used to pride ourselves on leading the world in social mobility, now we just hate the poor, those fat cats on the bottom fucked it all up for everyone.

those were loans to some banks that were paid back and saved the economy from depression. Socialism is when govt owns banks and other industries not when it makes short term loans to some banks to prevent depression. Stupid???

real lifetime bailouts to failed individuals with no payback at all are good with liberals- right? Stupid liberal with his pants down?

and you attribute this to the growing influence of crippling liberal welfare programs that destroy all incentive to work and instead encourage the poor to leech more and more off the rich?

Walmat who refuses to pay workers a wage they can live on while directing them to public assistance - it goes on and on. .

Walmart pays too much and is going under thanks to Amazon who employees 10% of the people. Shall we be stupid and liberal and force Walmart to pay more and go out of business faster and unemploy 2.3 million sooner?? See why we say slow??
