Gun-rights group vows to game mayor's gun buyback effort - Chicago

"Guns Save Life used Chicago’s 2012 gun buyback to embarrass city officials. That year, members said they turned in about 60 guns — some of them rusty and inoperable.

They received $100 MasterCard gift cards for each gun, which they used to buy ammunition for a National Rifle Association youth camp in Bloomington and bolt-action rifles to give away to campers."

Thoughts?

Buy back programs are a great way to fence stolen guns. If a gun "bought back" is later proven to be stolen property who gets charged?

Murder weapons? Do they check those when they are turned in….or do they just get accepted and the guy walks…..? Does anyone know the policy?

I and others regularly attend the gun buybacks they have here...while a lot of what these people sell is pure junk, there are often a few gems to be found that I can get at bargain basement prices...but still a fairer price than what the city offers.

Think about that for a minute....how much work does it take to take all of these guns, fire one or more rounds in a controlled environment (after finding/purchasing ammo in some cases), then attempt to match them to bullets used in X number of murders? I doubt many cities want to expend the time (aka money), which is why what they collect is usually just destroyed...after the pols, bureaucrats and cops pick through them to find any gems they might want for themselves of course.

Gun buy back programs are THE perfect way to get rid of a gun used in a crime. No more evidence so there's a crime that will never, ever be solved. Good JOB progressives! Yet another way to support your local criminal element! Gosh they must love you!
