Make it more mainstream!

Nothing nerdy about blowing shit up! What can be done to make sci fi more mainstream and accepted to the point it is not nerdy anymore? More explosions and tough guys? I did knew one football player who liked Starship Troopers.

Star Trek is nerdy it has scientists. So for sci fi to be more mainstream does it needs more soldiers and blue collar workers?

Note that many "nerds" ARE blue-collar guys. The guy who basically created a stereotypical nerd pastime was an insurance agent...later he worked as, of all things, a cobbler.
