Heads should roll, but of course nothing will happen. Welcome to 2023.

No Longer the Unforgivable Sin

I was told early in my career that lying to reporters was the unforgivable sin. Spin was accepted and expected, but lying was a career ender. Lie to a reporter and not only would that reporter never trust you again but would ensure his fellow scribes knew of the transgression and would avoid you as a source. Case in point: As director of Public Affairs at the U.S. Department of Justice in February 2004, I was routinely asked by reporters if the department had opened an investigation into the leak of CIA agent Valerie Plame’s identity. On Friday, Feb. 6, I informed them that no investigation was open, only to learn the criminal division had opened one late that night without notifying anyone. Even the attorney general’s office was caught unaware.

Lying to a reporter was never a "sin"
With Leftists, lying is a virtue, just like coveting

Essentially, to know the 10 commandments of the Left just take the original 10 commandments and take the inverse of them

(1) The Left has re-defined the word, "lie." To them, if you are not a fellow Leftist, mistakes are lies, opinions that turn out to be wrong are lies, statements that can be rebutted are lies, and even intentional misquotes by journalist are lies. Note the example mentioned above - that Bush 43 lied about WMD's. He was told by the people whose business it is to KNOW that Saddam was hiding WMD's, and he acted on it. Colin Powell, when he went before the U.N., did not say definitively that Saddam had WMD's, merely that a mountain of evidence pointed to that fact. Later it turned out the Saddam was intentionally pretending to have WMD's so that Iran would not invade his country. We took the bait, not even imagining that he would do something so stupid and self-destructive. But Leftist history records that both Bush43 and Power were "liars." It is nonsense.

(2) to the Leftists who comprise 80% of the Journalist "profession," if a lie furthers the cause of Leftism, it is not only acceptable, it is commendable. The infamous "Russian dis-information" letter is Exhibit A. Hence the OP.

(3) The truly amazing thing is that so many Leftist outlets kept count of Trump's "lies" (see above), some counting them into the THOUSANDS, and yet Biden lies IN SUBSTANTIAL WAYS every single day (e.g., "we have control of our southern border"), and from the Leftist Journalists...nothing. They won't even ask him the questions (on the rare occasions when he actually takes questions) like, "Why did you cite the Russian Dis-information letter in the third debate when you knew that the laptop truly belonged to your son?"

Seems like a lie to me.

Yeah republicans NEVER lie right?

It's beyond silly to call out either side of the corrupt duopoly for lying.

Indeed, Bibba Clinton told us Iraq ad WMD.

Bubba said that BEFORE the UN inspectors checked 700 sites and found none but Gomer Bush invaded anyway. The 4,400 dead and 23,000 are on him and him alone. Our allies told us to stay the hell out of Iraq and Americans made asses of themselves screeching about Freedom Fries and sending the Statue of Liberty back to France. Those are the facts, kid.

What anyone did in 1998 was irrelevant when Rumsfeld had Gomer invade in Iraq in 2003. Try again. We bomb countries routinely if they meet certain requirements. Being poor and defenseless is one way to receive American bombs. Being dark skinned Muslims is a bonus.
