Lol ! Navajo Nation President sits with Redskins owner in VIP box with Redskins cap on

Must not be such a big deal in the Navajo Nation if their prez doesn't have a problem with it.

Like most things, it's the loudmouth activists that get the attention.

Why would you think that? Didn't you read the article?

Shelly, however, is not the most convincing Native American ally as he does not have an overwhelming support from his tribe. In August he finished seventh in the presidential primary elections, and will be exiting office on January 14.

Yes I read that. I get the feeling though that it must not be a big deal, or any of the candidates would have stayed away from anything connected with Snyder.

More likely he's collecting all the perks he can before the voters boot him out. There were protesters, so it apparently IS a big deal.

The term "Indian" should be offensive to Native Americans because they are not from India. Wait a minute, the term "Native American" should be offensive because "America" was a term invented by a White map maker thousands of years after they arrived here. Also, the term "Native" has roots in colonialism. Hmm...

Here's an idea: Since Whites are called Whites and Black are called Blacks, why not call them Redskins? (Reds has already been copyrighted by the Commies.) Otherwise, I guess we'll have to stick with "Injun."

To how many ?

A lot of natives are ok with it. My thing is worrying if we eliminate all mention of natives in sports what mention is left? Other than 'indian casinos' I can't think of a time they come up but in sports unless personally aquainted. Easier to eliminate people if you never hear about them or wonder about them when they are mentioned. And I wonder if that isn't what's actually going on. If there's no natives left eventually, a lot of land reverts to US control...

I don't want to be called white. I'm Caucasian and my skin is pink to tan. It's not for you to say what Native Americans should be called. I actually like the Canadian solution, First Nations.

I've heard others express concern about that as well. If all Indian names and terms were eliminated from sports, there would be areas in the U.S where native references would hardly ever come up.
