Sarsour sinking

Winnipeg Mayor Brian Bowman is "sorry not sorry" about his call to disinvite the rabidly anti-Semitic feminist Linda Sarsour from a forum celebrating the centennial of the Social Planning Council of Winnipeg.

Bowman said, "It's less about the speaker than the social planning council providing that platform and the message it sends to the Jewish community and the community as a whole. She has continually attacked the foundation of the state of Israel's right to exist."

Good call.

Sarsour is trying to put an anti-Semitic spin on feminism.

Liberals increasingly are embracing anti-Semitism. The New York Times bashed President Donald John Trump and Bibi Netanyahu this weekend in a cartoon that belonged in the Hitler era's Der Stürmer.

Back in 1922, it was the Times said Hitler was no threat to Jews.

Sarsour said, “There is no country in this world that is immune to violating human rights. You can’t be a feminist in the United States and stand up for the rights of the American woman and then say that you don’t want to stand up for the rights of Palestinian women in Palestine.”

A few feminists are pushing back. Actress Mayim Bialik (starred in "Blossom" and "Big Bang Theory") called Sansour out two years ago.

Bialik said, “Zionism is the belief in the right of the Jewish people to have an autonomous state in Israel. I am a Zionist. Feminism is the belief that a woman-driven movement can bring about race, class and gender equality and that women deserve all of the rights and privileges afforded to men. I am a feminist.”
