A developing story.

This is great for those who need insulin. What it means that isn't said though is they will raise other prices to maintain "shareholder value".

Remember strolling, ReNaziKlans want to remove caps on Insulin. Stop bitching and accept that it will happen.

I think it's great but I think everyone should be able to afford their medications.

Isn't the insulin this company makes laced with a dangerous toxin to turn your children in transgender albinos?

Many people are saying this...

Better stock up before it is unavailable.

35 dollars will be like 35 cents soon

Yep, this was something government did to save a lot of real people hundreds of dollars a month, just like that, and the Republicans voted against it with full-throated zeal.

Democrats are absolute shit at pointing out their own wins, though. If every D politician just kept repeating "Yes, we did that, keep voting us in and there's more to come" without getting distracted or afraid or something, they'd landslide every time.

So 90-95% of people taking insulin have type 2 diabetes. Type 1 is when the immune system attacks the cells in the pancreas and the body doesn't produce insulin anymore. Type 2 is when your fat ass eats waaay more sugar than you should, and you become insulin resistant. You are still producing insulin naturally but you've made it so your body doesn't react to that insulin and you need a pharmaceutical to take up the slack. We have known the cause of type 2 diabetes for decades now. Most of the reason these people are paying too much for insulin is because of their poor choices.
That said the pharmaceutical companies have also been generating newer and better versions of insulin which supposedly work better for those with type 1 diabetes. The data for type 2 seems to show that there isnt much difference, but doctors keep prescribing the newer more expensive versions of the drug. So it would seem that the culprit for this problem is 3 fold. The people shoving donuts in their face hole all their life and then wondering why they have health problems, the doctors for not prescribing the older cheaper versions of insulin and the big pharma who is no doubt pushing the "new and improved" insulin at doctors for everyone not just type 1 diabetics.

Its a given that if something enhances the lives of the masses, the GOP will be dead set against it.

Wouldnt it just be simpler if doctors stopped prescribing the newer more expensive versions of insulin that pharma has developed for Type 1 not type 2 diabetes?

^^^

How did this ever get started?

It's not like insulin is a new drug.

All of a sudden (when trump was president) everybody started bitching about the price of insulin.

Was the price raised? Did insurance companies stop paying for it?

What happened?

Drug companies do what drug companies do. They modify it just enough to get the patent extended. Its also difficult to make generics because it’s a biologic.

As to why it’s such a big deal now vs before I’m not sure. The sheer number of fat people with diabetes is such that it’s tipped the scale?
