'Unprecedented Step': Powerball and Mega Millions Sales Suspended in Illinois
'Unprecedented Step': Powerball and Mega Millions Sales Suspended in Illinois
Amid a budget crisis plaguing the state, the sale of Powerball and Mega Millions tickets will be suspended, the Illinois Lottery said Wednesday.

When liberals spend other peoples money to the point that there isn't enough money anymore, then the result is like Venezuela, BANKRUPTCY. And guess who gets hurt the most? The poor, because they can't leave the screwed up state. Always happened and always will happen. Liberalism is about equality, where everyone will be equally poor and equally miserable. That is called FAIRNESS.....

Again, we didn't have these issue in Illinois until Rauner came in and refused to sign off on budgets because he couldn't get a bunch of stuff that had nothing to do with budgets.

When we run Rauner out on a rail next year, we can get back to normal.

Unsustainable, unaffordable, unfunded public employee pensions.

I agree, no congressmen or state worker should get a pension.

If Illinois cut the pensions, converted them to 401Ks and cut government employment by 20%, we might be able to avoid 3rd world status, but Madigan won't make any changes, will continue to blame Rauner and wait for a Dem governor so they can raise taxes and finally kill Illinois for good.

As goes Chicago, so goes Illinois. Libs try to distract from that fact and the fact no conservative has led Chicago in like forever.

Unsustainable, unaffordable, unfunded public employee pensions.

I'm wondering how it is that 400 Million dollar planes that can't fly in the rain are "sustainable" and "affordable", but making sure that public employees aren't eating dog food when they retire isn't?

Again, we didn't have a problem until Rauner started trying to pretend he was scott walker,

HAHAHAHAHAHA IIllinois's problems started long, long before Rauner came along

Illinois isn't buying $400 million planes.

The pension issue was in place well before Rauner ran for office.
I wish Rauner could drive a stake thru the heart of the public employee unions, that might give Illinois a chance.
Now we'll have to wait for some sort of bankruptcy to slash pension promises we could never afford.

Another classic example of demoquacks attempting to place the blame on someone else for their mistakes

Exactly. A guy in office less than 2.5 years is to blame, not the guy who's been Speaker of the Illinois House, 32 of the last 34 years.
It takes a special kind of moron to take Joe's stance.....and he is.

Again, guy, so let me get this straight.

One upon a time, private and public sector workers both had really good benefits and pay. And then the private sector used a combination of union busting, outsourcing, free trade, right to work and other shit to drive you all down to some middle class poverty.

And your reaction? "HEy, that Public Sector worker is still getting good pay and benefits. GET HIM!!!"

And you don't see how fucked up that is.

We didn't have the problem 2.5 years ago. IN fact, 2.5 years ago, we did what we should have done. We increased taxes to meet our obligations. We passed budgets, we had good bond status.

I should also point out that yesterday, the REPUBLICAN Senate leader in IL Resigned because even SHE is sick of Rauner and his shit.

Illinois Senate Republican leader Radogno steps down

Republican leader Christine Radogno announced her resignation Thursday, another sign of the lack of progress at the Capitol as Illinois teeters toward a third year without a comprehensive spending plan.

The first woman to lead a legislative caucus left little doubt her departure was in part born of frustration over the partisan stalemate that has sent state government finances spiraling downward despite her efforts to reach a compromise that would satisfy a demanding Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner and a Democratic-led General Assembly.

Illinois has a spending problem that has been in place a long time before Rauner showed up. The state democrat-controlled legislature has used all kinds of accounting tricks and gimmicks to hide the truth, which is finally at the point where it cannot be papered over any longer. Taxes ain't going to do it, but you'll never convince the democrats of that.

I saw nothing in your link that says Radogno resigned because she is sick of Rauner. You flat out lied about that. And you damn well had a underfunded pension problem for a lot longer than the last couple of years. The Left has totally fucked up that state, passing programs that they didn't pay for. Well, to coin a phrase "the chickens have come home to roost".

Yes, when we were the only surviving manufacturing economy after WWII, we did very well.
And then the unions started to kill the golden goose.

And your reaction? "HEy, that Public Sector worker is still getting good pay and benefits. GET HIM!!!"

My reaction is, that public sector guy is paid more than he's worth.
He's getting unrealistic benefits that are unsustainable and unaffordable.
And now that they're driving states and localities bankrupt, the number of public sector employees, the salary of the remaining employees and the benefits of those employees need to be adjusted down. A lot.

Really? What was our unfunded pension liability before Rauner? Now?

If we really have all these expenses and obligations, why is Rauner trying to tie it to a lot of other thigns that have nothing to do with the budget? Here's the thing.. he got 90% of what he asked for, and he STILL won't sign on. And it's going to cost a lot more money if the rating agencies classify IL bonds to junk status.

Really? What was our unfunded pension liability before Rauner? Now?

Unfunded Liablity is a unicorn..It's something that Repuks blurt out when they don't have an argument for their douchebaggery.

Hey... here's how you fund your obligations. MAKE THE FUCKING RICH PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE!!!

In Illinois, it's a $119 billion unicorn. That's a big fucking unicorn.

Hey... here's how you fund your obligations. MAKE THE FUCKING RICH PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE!!!

That's a great idea! You should really hike their rates.
It's not like they can move out of the state.

DERP!
