Discouraging courage in the military Bernard Gaynor

This one carries the title ‘Battling with Words’. It prides itself as a study of language use in Defence using social and linguistic theoretical frameworks to understand culture and cultural change. If we translate that into English, it simply means using the organisation charged with Australia’s security as a guinea pig in which to experiment with the latest radical social theory to emerge from Hippyville.

:::::::::::

We must focus instead on the big problem. Simply put, this report identifies this as the fact that the Anglo-Australian male is the dominant demographic in the Australian Defence Force. And it goes on to single out Anglo-Australian male domination as a problem 36 times.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

The report even recommends that blokes must be taught to be less blokey when they talk about their job destroying the opposition, so that others feel more welcome. Apparently, this is because Defence will be better at closing with the enemy, capturing or killing him, by day or night, regardless of season, weather or terrain if there are less Anglo-Australian males in it. That means a military with more women, more homosexuals and more people with diverse language and cultural backgrounds (or Muslims in less fancy language).

A study of language and "less blokey blokes" translates in some way to "Liberalism" or any other kind of politics....... exactly how again?

:confused:

Just how old were those original shrooms?

The Australian military hasn't imploded...yet.
Fact is that the total population of Australia [23 million] is only a few million more than the population of the State of New York.
So Australia's military, with no nukes, is basically always going to be unable to defend the nation without the help of large allies.

More women, gay men, more people with diverse language and cultural backgrounds (or Muslims in less fancy language), ...and less blokey blokes............won't make much difference to anything.

With 'B grade' planes and "popguns and toy ships"...the Australian military today is but a shadow of the militaries of other nations.

Given that the majority of young men in Sydney, Melbourne etc today seem to be non-Anglo Saxon, but 'SE Asian','Indian', 'African', 'Middle Eastern' etc...most of the military personnel will soon be from the races other than 'Anglo-Saxon', or there won't be any military at all.

GREENS senator Peter Whish-Wilson has been condemned for suggesting Islamic State fighters should not be described as “terrorists” because Australian forces could also be viewed by some as terrorists.

The Tasmanian senator, in a speech to parliament, claimed that describing the militants as terrorists “demonises people” and “implies a very one-sided view of the world”.
